Gorgon's Eye Questions

Gorgon's Eye is a card that receives little play in my region. So, I have a question or two about this card.
(1) Does it negate effect of monster cards flipped face up during battle?
(2) Flipped into face up defense position by effect of spell/trap cards?

The following is why I am asking this question: In a recent tournament the following happend.
Player A has a face up attack position Jinzo on the field.
Player B has a set Gorgon's Eye, Ring of Destruction and Barrel Behined the Door. On his turn he summons Pharaonic Protector. Next he activates Book of the Moon targets Jinzo placing him in face down defense position. He then activates Gorgon's Eye, attacks Jinzo following with the RoD BBtD combo inflicting enough damage to win the duel.

Player A says this is not legal because Jinzo negates the effect of traps. I ruled this was a legal move.
Was I correct?

Thanks

No, I think your ruling was wrong. Jinzo's effect was cancelled out for that turn because of Gorgon's Eye, so Trap Cards could be activated.

Maruno, if you will read my post carefully you should notice I ruled that traps COULD be activated.......As you may or may not realize...reading is a necessary skill for palying Duel Monsters or replying to a post on a board!

Yeah, and not flaming someone like that is another necessary skill for replying to a post on a board. After all, which do you think would be a more constructive way to make your point? To address it in the way you did or maybe make a comment that "I think you may have read that wrong?" After all, everyone makes a mistake sometimes. We misread, we mistype, but would you want to be singled out for that in a bit of a condescending manner or perhaps just a friendly "tongue-in-cheek" manner. Now everyone "paly nicely!"

and if you don't behave I'm putting it in all of your report cards that you don't work and play Yugioh well with others.....and it goes on your permanent record <stern menacing glare>

hmm *rembers day back at school* shutters........

(oh for goron eye , if a monster is i ndef pos, it like they have no effect at all so all the rule for skill drain would apply, if there in def pos i mean)

I was talking about the last bit of your little scenario anyway. Sure, Jinzo is flipped, Gorgon does his thing, and then the attack. My point was that even though Jinzo was flipped face-up, his effect won't then stop Trap Cards from being activated because of Gorgon's Eye.

So while Player A was right when he said Jinzo negates Traps, he was wrong to think the RoD + BBtD combo couldn't be pulled off, because Gorgon's Eye cancels out Jinzo's effect for that turn (since it was in Defence position at the time).

I will re-post the last part of YaDoc's initial post scenario so you can read it one more time...

YaDoc is NOT Player A. YaDoc ruled the EXACT SAME WAY you are stating in your posts, but you say his ruling was WRONG. THAT is what is being referred to here.

As stated above, it seems you mis-read or mis-interpreted what YaDoc was trying to ask/say.

Well, I sure didn't mean to be mean......(LOL)......I have had my chops busted on this board before.....and no one came to my rescue........now that we have hero to rescue thoese of us who misread/mispost........(LOL) Any way, all said and done, Maruno if I hurt your feelings....I apologize!!

*hangs head low*

After reading your initial post again I see I was wrong. I must have skimmed over that last bit. The bit where you ruled it was a legal move goes over two lines, after all. I was disagreeing with Player A there, as were you.

Many apologies. I must have been braindead when I posted earlier. I've been like that all day. Lousy revision...

I understand....we all have those days....and I truley did not mean to be snappy or mean......but I am glad that you agree with me that Player A was wrong and my ruling was correct.

Great way to make your point! :p
