Great Maju Garzett vs Trap Hole

To explain it, forgive me if I am wrong...

Trap Hole is a very explicit card. It is no Counter-Trap card, so it is (I believe) a Spell Speed 2 card. Whereas Great Maju-Garzett is a Spell Speed 3 card. This is where GMG finds it's weakness to Trap Hole and Bottomless Trap Hole. Since GMG's effect is Spell Speed 3, it's effect comes into play as soon as it hits the field. The only cards that can stop this effect from coming into play are Solemn Judgement, Divine Wrath, Horn of Heaven...in other words, Counter Traps in general. Since GMGs effect comes into play as soon as it hits the field, it's effect automatically gets it's effect, and then Trap Hole's effect applies.

...was that confusing?

Nope, not confusing, but, um, a little incorrect. ;)

"Trap Hole" is indeed Spell Speed 2.
"Great Maju Garzett" is a Spell Speed 1 effect.
As far as I know, you can't use "Divine Wrath" against his effect because it's not a chainable effect.

[Edit]Remember, as it stands right now, there are NO monsters with an effect that is considered to be Spell Speed 3. Only Counter Trap cards have the privilege of being Spell Speed 3.

I was going to say that, but it gave me a instant headache seeing something I've NEVER seen before! lol :drugged:

What I've never gotten is the chain up of speeds, is Spell Speed 3 the fastest or Spell Speed 1?
Spell Speed 1 is the slowest.
Spell Speed 3 is the fastest.

Spell Speed 1 is all Spell Cards except Quick Play, 'most' monster Ignition Effects (Cannon Soldier, BLS - EotB, etc...), 'most' (if not all) monster Triggered effects ( the Monarchs, Tsukuyomi, etc...), all Continuous Monster Effects are Spell Speed 1, I believe as well.

Spell Speed 2 is Quick Play Spell Cards, all Trap Cards except Counter Traps, some monster Ignition Effects (Strike Ninja, A-Team Trap Disposal Unit, Maryokutai, etc...), some monster Triggered Effects (Crass Clown, Dream Clown, etc...).

Spell Speed 3 is Counter Trap Cards. That's it for now.

Look what I missed while I was stuck on regionals all day. :(

Suffice it to say, all I can doo now that I'm a day late and a dollar short is aback up what the others said in that thier are no Spell Speed 3 effects except Counter Traps. And they all have very specific timeing requirments.

As far as Great Maju is concerned isnt his effect considered continuous?:eek:rcshhh:

The ATK of this card becomes twice the original ATK of 1 monster that you Tributed for the Tribute Summon of this card.At first the atk is 0, so when it is on the field, the atk is first 0 and then the boost of the twice original atk of tributed monster. The same thing goes for Gyaku-Gire Panda.

His effect is only continuous if uninterrupted by another effect, like "Book of Moon", or "Megamorph".

Maju Garzett

"Maju Garzett"'s ATK will be 0 if you Special Summon it, or Tribute Summon it with a monster with "?" ATK (such as "Gradius' Option" or another "Maju Garzett"), or Tribute Summon it with only 1 Tribute using "Cost Down", or equip it with "Megamorph", or if it's flipped face-down and then face-up again, or if you Tribute Summon it with Mirage Tokens, or if you remove it from play with "Dimensionhole" and it returns to the field.

Even though there is no ruling which states that "Great" Maju Garzett is the same as Maju Garzett, neither of them take on an "original attack" based upon the monsters that were tributed. Their attack is modified rather.

The original attack is still 0 when an effect like Megamorph is used.
