Guardian Ceal / Shooting Star Bow - Ceal

Guardian Ceal
Effect Monster (Pyro / FIRE / 4 Stars / ATK 1700 / DEF 1400)

This card can only be Normal Summoned, Flip Summoned, or Special Summoned when there is a "Shooting Star Bow - Ceal" on your side of the field. Send an Equip Card on your side of the field equipped to this card to the Graveyard to destroy 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field.

Shooting Star Bow - Ceal
Equip Spell

Decrease the ATK of a monster equipped with this card by 1000 points. A monster equipped with this card can attack your opponent's Life Points directly.

A mixed bag today. "Guardian Ceal" is well... there are better Pyro/Fire monsters to play, esp with the support from the newer sets. Plus to fully use him you either need a lot of Equip cards or something like "Sword of Deep-Seated" so that it will come back turn after turn (which may not be a good thing though). While destroying a monster is nice, "Raigeki Break" is about as costly and far more flexible. If he had at least an 1800 ATK, maybe... (and to think, this was an Ultra Rare originally?)

"Shooting Star Bow - Ceal" though is interesting. It can serve 2 purposes. 1 is making sure one of your monsters always has a direct attack. The other is to weaken an opponent's monster for an easy attack/kill. (Look... a 1400 Jinzo! :) ) To be honest though, "Raging Flame Sprite" and "United We Stand" / "Mage Power" can basically makes this tandem a bit out to pasture.

I think a lot of people forget there are some usful cards out there that "flip" monsters without summoning them, aowing you to get the gaurdian's face up with out summoniung them. That said, although Ceal isn't as worth it for a Pyro-Type, I was considering an equip deck running him and Armed Samurai - Ben Kei.
