GX is in the US! ******don't read if you don't want the 1st episode details***

Did anyone watch the Yugioh GX premiere today on Cartoon Network? It was awesome! Skyscraper, E-hero flame wingman beats Ancient Gear Golem! But I think the best part of the episode was where the prof. Got out Ancient Gear Golem with the wicked tokens first turn.....probably because that is a combo I thought of a while ago....set Statue of the Wicked, Heavy Storm or mst it, sacrifice it for whatever....
3 cards, but can get powerful monsters out really quick.

If you saw it, what was your favorite part? Do you like the series?

Thats a good play with Wicked Statue (didnt see it, fell asleep). I never considered that as a way to bring out such a powerful monster.

Guess that is something to keep in mind for Gilford the Lightning. Set 2, Heavy Storm you and your opponents Spells and Traps, tribute the tokens and a available monster, Nuke your opponents monsters and attack directly.

Guys, could I please request a spoiler warning if you're going to say what actually happened in the episode?

I'm off to download the episode as soon as I get home!

I wonder if the opening/ending + bgm was kept the same. GX breathes a fresh new life to different dueling styles. If you're not creative, GX is not for you. If you're not laid back, GX is not for you. It's meant to be a refreshing new start for the game/anime with a HUGE emphasis on Fusions. Oh, and Pot of Greed and Monster Reborn are still legal!

I apoligize for not putting a spoiler warning.....sorry Xeno.

But I didn't tell you all of it! I think I left like 10 minutes out......

Sorry again.....I'll be more careful next time.

The Oct. 11 episode was pretty good too (liked it better than the debut ;)). I guess the one think that really ercks me is the horrid name changes. Dr. Crowler and Chaz Princeton? *shudders*

I'm surprised they're showing it 4 days a week, I figured it'd be a weekly show, especially since they're only up to episode 54 in Japan. Still, it's a good way to showcase the new cards, and they're actually following the rules now, except for the whole "summon in face up defense mode" thing that drives me crazy when judging.

I was dissapointed with the English airing of it. They could have done a lot better with the names, I mean what kind of name is Crowler? Sounds like a doughnut to me.

Yeah, can I have a coffee with that crowler?

Cheesy theme song too, but they duel sort of like we do! I don't want to ruin anything for anyone who didn't see Oct. 13 episode, but lets say If when EEN comes out some of these cards do what they did today, I might just pull of the stuff that that the more experienced (by class rank) duelist pulls off, because that deck would be nice

Something did strike me as strange in this episode though....can anyone tell me what it was through this thread or PM (cog PMs)?
Hint: someone did something that is legal, but I never saw how it got to that point......

Oh, it is just a TV show! But I catch this as well as they summon in face up defense!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!

They summon in face up defense most likely when it isnt a flip effect. As there's no real suspense to attacking a "Normal Monster" or an Effect Monster that only activates under certain conditions, like Sangan.

As the viewer, you can still feel like you are in the role of one of the characters when you know what the monster is, and suprised, like the opponent, when they attack a "Cyber Jar".

So I would theorize, only flip effects go face-down. And cards like Big Shield Gardna, Sangan, Winged Kuriboh, will be summoned face up defense, as if they have no "effect", until they are attacked.

I can't believe after all this time, people are still summoning in face up defense. What's worse, is that they do it for no reason: the only time you'd ever even WANT to summon in face up defense is if you were playing something like Banisher of the Light, or if your opponent had Sasuke Samurai, etc.

-pssvr
EDIT: hmm, maybe you're right.

Every Weekday at 5pm Eastern Standard Time and weekends around 6pm-7pm (2 shows) EST. Don't know about Sunday's. Fantasy Football occupies my TV viewing experience.... :so:

does anyone know where I can download any episodes I might have missed? I didn't know they played episodes on weekends or fridays. I have missed 2 episodes I think... 5 & 6.......any link to a download would be appreciated.

P.S. They play an encore episode at 10:30 EST/9:30 CST weekdays of the episode that aired the weekday before at 5 EST/4 CST.
