Heart of The Underdog

you can not.
HOTU works only for cards drawn either your standars draw or
effect draw(Card Destruction,Reload,Pot of Greed...)
the card you draw with effect of HOTU doesn't count
otherwise you could make a funny exodia/HOTU/Reload/normal monsters deck :)
And what is being drawn by the effect of Heart of the Underdog? A Normal Monster Card. And when is it being drawn? During the Draw Phase. And what triggers Heart of the Underdog's effect? Drawing a Normal Monster Card during the Draw Phase either by an effect or by a the normal Draw.

also, from a thread on this website I read the other day, if you have multiple HotU in play, their effects form a chain. The only thing about this is for HotU to activate by its own effect, it has to be the last thing to happen in a chain. Say you have 3 in play, and during your draw phase you draw a normal monster card. The 3 Heart of the Underdogs activate causing a chain. The first draw you get a normal monster. The second draw you get a normal monster. The third draw you get a spell card. You do not get to draw more cards because the last thing to happen when the chain resolves is drawing a spell card. If the third draw were a normal monster, then the HotUs would activate again, and you would draw 3 more times by their effects.

This paticular ruling has been modified somewhat, though. Here is the FAQ ruling on multiple copies of Heart of the Underdog:

Missing the Timing: Suppose you have 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" on the field, and draw a Normal Monster Card during your Draw Phase. All 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" immediately activate their effects, and because they activate simultaneously, they form a chain with Chain Links 1, 2, and 3. If you draw a Normal Monster card for Chain Link 3 or Chain Link 2, your copies of "Heart of the Underdog" do not activate again. This is because they are "when"¦ you can" optional Trigger Effects, and you "miss the timing" because you drew the Normal Monster Card during a chain and not as Chain Link 1. However, if you draw a Normal Monster Card for Chain Link 1, all 3 copies of "Heart of the Underdog" will activate their effects again.

During your Draw Phase, when you draw a Normal Monster Card(s), you can draw 1 more card by showing it to your opponent.

so, Draw Phase is, like, every case of you drawing a card?!
way to go UDE, perfect wording...

anyway, i never heard of anyone playing HOTU exodia, and
presume that deck would pretty much suck!

BTW this made me very, very angry.
i mean, even the rulebook v5.0 divides stages of a player's
turn into phases, first is Draw Phase.
how are the kids supposed to learn the game when the card &
the rulebook say one thing and rulings another?!

Translation: Don't bother having more than one HOTU on the field because then it becomes too damn confusing :)

It's not every instance of drawing, its every instance of drawing during the Draw Phase. This is why Pot of Greed wont work with HotU, because Pot of Greed can't be activated during the Draw Phase.

I'm surprised you never heard of Heart of the Underdog Exodia. This is fundamentally what it was made for.

Don't let the long text fool ya. Its actually quite simple.

All three copies of Heart of the Underdog trigger when you draw a Normal Monster Card.

Since all have triggered at the same time, each effect is placed in a chain. Chain link 1,2 and 3.

Resolve the chain backward starting with Chain Link 3 and draw a card.

If you happen to draw another Normal Monster Card for Chain Link 3 or Chain Link 2, your copies of Heart of the Underdog will not trigger again.

The reason? Its an optional effect. "you can draw 1 more card"

Since this effect is optional, in order for Heart of the Underdog's effect to activate again the last thing to occur must be the drawing of a Normal Monster Card. (This is the way "optional effects" have been ruled by the way)

But we're in the middle of chain that hasn't resolved yet (we haven't drawn a card for Chain Link 1 yet). We have to resolve this chain before we can do anything else.

That means the drawing of a Normal Monster Card for Chain link 3 and Chain Link 2 aren't going trigger your copies of Heart of the Underdog because they aren't going to be the last thing to happen. Chain Link 1 is going to be the last thing to happen. (This is what "missing the timeing" means.)

Now when you go to resolve Chain Link 1 and you happen to draw another Normal Monster Card, all three copies of Heart of the Underdog will trigger starting the whole process over again. But if you draw anything else, then your done.
