I'd be very interested to know if anyone on the board actually plays in the OCG (or has played) and what is the environment like? At this point many of our opinions are based on what is relayed to us through UDE. It would be very helpful to get an idea on how Konami interacts with that market to try to figure out if there is any possible alternatives to our current situation.
The idea that they had a hotline for card rulings seems to indicate a more responsive attitude to the gaming community. The incredible number of OCG only released cards also shows that they have had many more promotional releases so the game at least at some prior point was getting attention there that it has not received on this end. Also the number of Structure Decks in Japan would indicate a much different attitude towards the gaming community.
For these reasons I don't think it is fair to say Konami doesn't care about gamers. What is in question is why the lack of support here? Why such lack luster tins? Why are we only now beginning to see decent Structure Decks? Who was making the decisions on what to release in our earlier sets? We've heard before that Konami has exclusive rights to the promotional cards they release and UDE has no control over them, well who sets up the promotions? Who coordinated with McDonalds was it UDE or Konami? If the Konami offices in the U.S. have nothing to do with the TCG then is the same team in Japan in charge of making these decisions for both OCG and TCG, or is it another department that deals with TCG? And has there been a recent reorganization now that our current releases are synchronized?
