Even though I have been playing for quite a while, I am still very naive, stubborn, cynical..yes even a self-confessed "noob" *hence the hatred I receive. I admit I still have lots to learn *however I only "learn" what I want to "hear" & coundn't care less about other's opinions, really, only if they dis my deck do I usually tell them where to go in no uncertain terms..again, a "noob"
Today, I saw a boy post a Ben Kai OTK deck on another forum. It was entirely berated.
The comment being "why run this jank when we now have Stein"
What then followed, was nearly a whole page of QFE!!! & "this guy knows his stuff, listen to him" & "this guy has just won the thread" etc etc.. I was totally livid.
I just went on & posted "If you like Ben Kai, then go for it" then my Fiend Deck was rubbished into the ground by everybody.
Oh so often I have heard "you must run Cyber Steins & Cyber Dragons in your Fiend Deck. I'm like "I WOULD only they are NOT Fiends" then get told "you run a Breaker, don't you?" it sux REAL, REAL, REAL bad.
It seems that 3X Cyber Dragon & 2-3X Cyber Stein has been splashed into EVERY deck now. I wouldn't call such decks "cookies" just a "non competitive tier 2 deck with a CHEAP alternate win condition that makes ANY deck an immediate Tier 1"
The pressure is on to run these SO BAD, if you do not, you are a "noob". Well I already admit to this, so therefore, they have no comeback.
In the end, the deckposter decided to go to Metagame & netdeck a cc, because everybody else told him to. When I tried to talk him out of it, I was told purely & simply to "f" off & mind my own business by everybody, including him. I just don't get this & I don't understand.
I need somebody to explain it to me. thx.

PM sent. It's rather lengthy, but explains this in detail.
Others have tried & failed. These guys just won't listen to reason, but good luck with that anyhows (you will definately need it). =)

Looks like there's a lot of silly kids on the site. And there are still quite a few players who haven't shaken the mentality that if it doesn't top a regional or Shonen Jump, that it isn't any good. We're going to have to shatter that mentality one day. One day...

Thank you for taking the time to read & investigate this matter.
Unfortunately, as you may be aware, half of these arrogant rugrats attend my "local" tournament which is 90 miles away.
Now you know why I just don't bother. I should really not retaliate to them, as I don't really enjoy the company of kids anyhows.
Why oh why must I therefore like a game designed specifically but not exclusively for them? *sigh
*just don't get me started that none of the players in my meta will trade with me, as they believe I am "too old" to be playing anyhows. I think, for this reason, I have decided to take my game offshore & totally online. My cards shall therefore be gathering dust *sigh. :crying

Quoted from one of my posts on Dillie-O's fine site.....

I know a lot of people feel the same way about CC decks....I know I do, however, I think we all realize as well that it's a part of the game period. What I hate to see though is people just throwing up their hands and walking away from the game in frustration.....I see people do the same in many different aspects of life.....there are other options, sometimes you have to create your own options though.

I remember a small group of Yugioh "Dads" we had at one point. There used to be a small gaming store in the town I live in nearby....we started a 9pm Wed. night Yugioh Tournament, yeah, that's right, 9pm on a week night. It served the purpose, while we are all loving dads and adore our kids we wanted a time for just us old farts with a creative flare to play without running into the same old decks 85% of the time. That ran for about 6 months before the store closed. The point is sometimes when things aren't as you like them you have to chagne them yourself. You might not be able to change the whole game but you can certainly set yourself up locally for something more fun and interesting if you work at it.

This is exactly why Local Tournament Organizers can revolutionize the game with the almost limitless opportunities they have at their disposal.

They can offer Sealed Deck or Booster Draft Tourney's, or they can simply create their own Ban List, as long as it is announced to all players prior to the start of the Tournament.

I'd like to see that site too, that's just pathetic. It really is a shame when all you see are people are who so afraid that they wont be famous card game celeberties that they'll ridicule anything that's not creative, but then when someone does something creative and they get in the Top 8 or 4 or whatever they'll be like "yeah that's an awesome deck" anyone else see the flaws of them?

Just don't listen to them because they're immature and very moronic, it's a no brainer why so many people knock on this game, because of people like that. It gives us all a bad reputation.

If you look at it from a logic standpoint....it all stands to reason. The game is geared toward a younger crowd, which means that there are a lot of people playing the game that are looking to prove themselves....not only to others but their own self worth. Young people tend to look at their accomplishments as self worth.....winning=self worth in many of their eyes. Of course then such people will play the deck they win with most often which, of course, will be a deck that is consistant....which is why decks become CC decks to begin with.

I'm always inclined to ask someone why they play the game. What the focus is of spending their time on any game. THen I advise them to focus on that goal....if it's winning so be it, if it's creativeness so be it, if it's socializing so be it as well. There isn't a wrong reason to play.....but there is wrong behavior and poor sportsmanship which is unacceptable no matter what reason you're playing the game....critisizm with ill intent or belittling anyone else's goal in playing the game is not only poor sportsmanship.....but it shows terrible immaturity, a lack of self confidence, as well as poor upbringing.

It's not the young people who feel a need to prove their abilities. Quite honestly, it's just plain idiots. People who haven't thought about themselves and haven't the capacity to do so tend to only be able to perceive their life subjectively - that is, they cannot view success in any manner other than relative to other people. There is not the objectivity that is present in someone who, for example, does "the right thing" for the sheer sake of improving the world. People who lack the capacity for objectivity can only view themselves as better or worse than someone else, never as good or bad.

No more PM's I'll post the latest disgusting thread right here:
http://www.ygoparadise.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3802&st=20&p=64889&#entry64889

This is very, very shameful, derogatory & degrading & I would like EVERYBODY to PLEASE read this, as it goes to show people why I am having such a hard time playing Yugioh & why I am nearly at my wits end.
*I actually shed a few tears when I read this.
I don't know whether to leave the game, or just find some really nice duelists. (I havent met any before, really & had no help).
Now you see why all my fun has been destroyed. I don't WANT IT TO BE!! :crying
Please assist if you can.

u mad?
sad?
emos a fad
get over it, fiends arent rad
ur leaving im very glad.
LMAO!

In a despicable, idiotic, useless kind of unproductive way, that rhyme was hilarious. Not as hilarious as the fact that someone wasted eight seconds of their life coming up with it only to try to hurt another person. But hilarious nonetheless.

._.

I should show you the BDC some day. After you hang out on that forum, you'll REALLY learn how to just ignore the idiots.

Honestly, it looks like a Site Moderated by a group of degenerates and thugs. You're better off just leaving that atmosphere than trying to combat it.

The problem is, that this site is associated with the only tournament venue in Sydney.
I can leave the site behind & have done so, but these are the morons I gotta duel & they are worse in the flesh.

This is what it is all about. I'm just far too mature to handle them.
I can ignore a few, but not over a dozen of them all scoring "brownie brown-nose points" with each other.
I just can't stand it anymore. My thick skin has warn thin over 2 yrs & I just don't enjoy the game anymore, because they just never let up with stuff like this. This is the whole crux of my problems atm. thx

Just hang out here.....we'll hlep nurse you back to health. Although things can get a little heated around here, any name calling or such and Digital Jedi locks it up!! <ahh, Guardian of the Fortres #3>

<edit> of course I see that as a good thing.

BTW, Necro, where are you from that they have no local tournaments? <state only, if you prefer>

*reading YGO paradise forums*

GAH! IQ... Dropping.... Must.... Stop...Reading...

HUURRRRRRRRRRRR I'm a duelerist!!!

can't you just feel the maturity in that forum?

I was at a place not too long ago which had a much more mature attitude going on. It was a hospital in mullingar. it was upstairs. It had a lot of wemon who were strangely enough pregnant. Guess they had to have a reason to be there :). This magical mature place I speak of isnt the rooms with these women. Its the room where all the little people cry all day and crap themselves constantly.

So you have had bad experiences trading too. Well thats something else we can fix here. Some great traders round these parts.

Thanks & I appreciate it. How are you guys at restoring sanity as well? :D
I don't mind healthy debate & can take insults, just I cannot stand mimicry on any level.
I also cant stand people who do things like send me cut-up Fiend cards in the mail, to try & prove their "point" *sigh
Actually, it borders on harassment & reeks of Age Discrimination.

As for my location:
Goulburn, NSW Australia. *check the map.
Thanks for all the help & advice. I'm glad that I'm meeting different duelists with mature & refreshing perspectives now. :nod_yes

wow i don't think i could have lasted a week going to that forum. to me they all sound like 11 to 16 year old kids that r spoiled, got no respect, and the only reason they say those things is becuz they know that nothing will happen to them in real life (wow that is sad that it reminds me of the people that played halo2 online when i still played it)
