And since this is the Card Reviews and Tips section, let's make it official.
Chiron the Mage
Earth / Beast-Warrior
ATK: 1800, DEF: 1000
4 Stars
"Discard 1 Spell Card from your hand. Destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on your opponent's side of the field. This effect can only be used once per turn."
Rulings
Discarding 1 Spell Card is a cost to activate this effect.
If you activate the effect of "Chiron the Mage", then flip it face-down, then flip it face-up all in the same turn, you can activate its effect again.
The restriction that you can only activate this effect once per turn is a condition, not an effect. So if "Skill Drain" is on the field, you can pay the cost once per turn (for no effect), but not pay the cost continuously in the same turn.
The Good:
- Beast-Warrior benefits from Enraged Battle Ox for Trample (or Piercing Battle Damage - John Danker )
- 1800 ATK is very nice
- EARTH gives him a buttload of support
- Spell/Trap destruction
The Bad:
- 1000 DEF is not so hot
The Ugly:
- You must discard a Spell to get his effect
The Bottom Line:
- I feel the good definitely outweighs the bad here. He's probably not something that's gonna get splashed into just any deck like Breaker the Magical Warrior has, but he really shines in a Beast or EARTH deck. I run a couple in my beast deck. You should too.
Chiron is awesome... I saw someone use Chiron to win a match and it was much better than breaker because the opponent has a DD Assailant on the field. something Breaker could never defeat if breaker use his effect.
