Hobby League?

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong on this part, but the difference between the Hobby and the Retail packs are Hobby packs come in boxes, and Retail packs come in blisters (Wal-Mart, Target, etc). Until this set, you only ever got ultimates of regular rares in Retail packs, and ultimates of supers/ultras were in Hobby box packs.... however the last blister packs my friend and I went out and got, had a couple of Utimates of Supers in them, and so did the packs at the Sneak Preview event, which were a first, so I think they changed things around with Force of the Breaker.

That's the only difference between what a Hobby pack and a Retail pack is though. The Hobby League is something else entirely, I'm afraid you'll have to get an explanation of that from someone else, as there's not any of that within a 100 mile radius of where I live, if more, and definitely not drivable distance to regularly attend, for sure, though I'd like to, for the events.

One of you is asking about apples and the other is describing what an orange is.

Hobby League has nothing to do with Hobby Packs. A Hobby League store usually has sanctioned tournaments and has the supply of Hobby League cards (the Parallel rares) and often gets the Champion Pack cards too.

There is one new difference between hobby packs and retail packs, at least for STON and FOTB. There are secret rares in hobby packs only. From my understanding noone pulled any secret rares at the sneak preview and as far as I know noone I know have pulled any out of blister packs.

But hobby league stores normally have champion packs and the paralell rare promos, along with special playmats and other prizes sometimes.

Are you sure about that? I pulled a Meltiel from a retail pack (Target) and thought it was a Secret Rare. I traded it to Jathro. Maybe he can confirm whether it was a Secret Rare or not. Now, one issue is that I bought both individual packs and the promo blister that had Cyber End Dragon and Shrink in it... and can't remember which pack the Meltiel came out of it. I IS CONFUSED!

That was the SE blisters with 2 STON, 1 EOJ, a Shrink and Cyber End Dragon. You could get a SCR out of a good one of those. One of the judges in our area pulled a Neo Parshath out of one. I don't know about the one pack blisters though. But that is just because I personally don't know of anyone to pull a SCR out of a one pack blister though. Has anyone pulled one?

That all depends on which era of Secret Rare's you are talking about. If you are talking about LOB thru AST, I used to pull them all the time from Retail. If you are talking about STON thru FOTB (not much history there... lol), there was one person I know who pulled a Grandmaster from a Retail Pack.

Most of the secret rares that people I know have pulled have been from the booster boxes. I know of only two people to pull a secret rare from the blister packs but never heard from a single pack blister.

Well, yeah, that's true, back in those sets, there were two Secret Rares, a Hobby and a Retail one, one was 000 and one was the last number in the set. One was printed only for Hobby boxes, while the other was printed only for Retail boxes. The way the history of the sets go, the Hobby one was almost always the more desired one of the two, either for playability, or collectability.
