"Horus Redux"

After playing at the Shonen Jump, I've rebuilt my old Horus deck. Completely untested yet and no sidedeck, but I think it might do well.

Anyway, here it is:

{1} Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8
{1} Jinzo
{1} Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
{3} Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6

{2} Spear Dragon
{1} Breaker the Magical Warrior
{3} Mystic Tomato
{2} Dekochi the Battlechanged Locomotive
{2} Cyber Phoenix
{2} Neo-Spacian Dark Panther
{1} Sangan
{1} Sand Moth
{1} Treeborn Frog

{3} Mausoleum of the Emperor
{2} Smashing Ground
{2} Giant Trunade
{1} MST
{1} Creature Swap
{1} Nobleman of Crossout
{1} Heavy Storm
{1} SORL
{1} Graceful Charity
{1} Premature Burial
{1} Confiscation
{1} Book of Moon

{3} Royal Decree
{1} RoD
{1} Mirror Force

I guess the idea is using "tech" and "CC" to support Horus.

Starting to develop a side:

3x Newdoria
3x Nimble Momanga
1x Creature Swap
3x Dust Tornado (?)
2x Cursed Seal of Forbidden Spell (?)

royal decree and treeborn frog dont mix especially since your using so many royal decrees... as a specialist in horus lockdown i prefer using only 2 since jinzo would normally fill another slot and sometimes, specifically in topdecking situations which horus lockdown decks may occur, it can cause a dead draw. cyber phoenix is totally useless... you have 3 machines aside from cyber phoenix... dekoichi is only good for its flip and jinzo can pretty much handle himself... what you need is dragon support for horus and your spear dragon... i like mirage dragon, might wanna give lord of d. a try, see how he works... include creature swap in your build... its awesome. since your running a tomato engine... having just the magic/trap lockdown isnt enough... there may be times where your opponent is over aggressive which is why i suggest using 2 newdorias and a don zaloog for hand disruption, also put in a spirit reaper and take out that ikky frog. masoleum of the emperor isnt such a good idea... sure you can summon your guys with no tributes but you can manage without... dont give your opponent a chance to get his 2400 atkers out to pummel your horus. dark panther is interesting choice although i think it will be useless more times then its going to be good... only thing your opp could have had is chaos sorcerer but hes banned so theres nothing much worthy of copying. cyber dragons are good ways of getting your horus and zaborg out quick and poa will strengthen your hand... you have to keep in mind that horus's bad side is that it can be bad at topdecking and it isnt fast enoguh... use last will in your build to bring out 2 exiled which youshould put in your build... sand moth and spear dragon are hardly usefull you want something that will have a strong impact with its presence on the field... i posted my horus lockdown deck awhile ago here... ill update it with the new format and you can see how well it flows...

Thanks for the reply!

I've been using Horus 2+ years myself, wanted to try something new. I went 5-3 with a Royal Decree-less Horus deck at my first Shonen Jump, in Seattle. The Dekochi's and Cyber Phoenix's are there purely for their draw power, the goal of this deck is speed and field presence.

I think I will take out Treeborn Frog though; you're right on that one with 3x Decrees.

The Sand Moth is tech against the Monarch Controls which dominated in Boston, and since I'm the area, I'm sure anywhere I play will be heavy on the Monarchs/Zaborg.

Creature Swap is in there. One is in the main and one is in the side; it's great to use with Level 6 and and flipped Decochi's etc.

Masoleum is there to help the all tribute hands that sometimes happen; I'll use them and go for the kill, perhaps using Giant Trunade after using it to clear the field and getting it back to my hand.

I like Dark Panther's potential as a "suicide fodder;" it's nice to have something that can match anything from a Monarch to Blue Eyes in raw attack power on my turn (Yes I know it doesn't work on my opponents turn, ah well).

Lol, I know all about topdecking with Horus...that's why I'm not running 2 Level 8's, as much as I want to.

Thanks again for the comments!

I think I will:

-1 Treeborn Frog
+1 Newdoria (allows both Panthers and Newdoria in the mix)

I think Spear Dragon will be good against the searchers...all of my opponents Dekochi's etc...I wish I'd had them in my deck at the Boston Shonen Jump...(though I ran a fiend deck, a trampler would have been nice especially against Scapegoat!)

I'll look for your deck. :) Thanks!

lol what you fail to realize is that dark panther doesnt copy the atk and def values of your opps monster, just the name and the effect... nothing else... mobius will kill you on either players turns. sand moth... while bing a good tech card and its true that most decks run 1 zaborg or so... having 1 card there waiting hoping to get his by that effect is too situational... even if zaborg hits you and you come back with 2000, he'll still kill you with his 2400 atk... you might be NoC'd or hit by a cyber dragon...its not worth it.

Ah, darn. You're right about Panther...probably better side material. I just picked up 2 over the weekend, never played them yet.

So:

- 2 Panthers
+ 2 Newdoria
+ 1 Cyber Dragon (I've only got one).
- 1 Sand Moth
+ 1 Magician of Faith

{1} Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8
{1} Jinzo
{1} Zaborg the Thunder Monarch
{1} Cyber Dragon (Added)
{3} Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6

{2} Spear Dragon
{1} Breaker the Magical Warrior
{3} Mystic Tomato
{2} Dekochi the Battlechanged Locomotive
{2} Cyber Phoenix
{2} Newdoria (Added)
{1} Sangan
{1} Magician of Faith (Added)

Maybe Reaper (since its searchable) but not Exiled...it's good, but its almost a waste of a summon when not searchable...that's what makes it so good, is searching for it easily, and I don't want a random RotA in there or anything like that.

but still exiled is exiled... all monsters bow down to its suicidal effect, wether you can search it or not... you can last will it or sangan it.
