Even though the answer is no, you might want to read up on when effects can be activated in the Battle Phase, and specifically the Damage Step, as this is the foundation to knowing when and what type of Trap Cards can be activated for certain Situations.

Torrential Tribute cannot be activated while you are resolving effects that occur in the Damage Step.

Normally, you cannot activate effects in the Damage Step unless they involve the following criteria

1. Modify ATK/DEF
2. Negate/Counter a Card Effect
3. Specifically state by Card Text that they can be activated in the Damage Step.

Since Hydrogeddon's Effect is a Triggered Effect that occur's when you destroy a monster in Battle, if you "choose" to resolve his effect, your opponent can activate Divine Wrath in order to negate and destroy Hydrogeddon (and no, you cannot use the effect of a face-up Royal Oppression in the Damage Step, since it is not a Counter Trap).

Just a quick one about Hydrogeddon too:

Its text is:
When this card destroys an opponent's monster as a result of battle and sends it to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 "Hydrogeddon" from your Deck.

Why if he destroys a spent Breaker he doesn't activate its effect, and it's a little strange to me. Didn't he destroyed and sent to grave a monster as a result of battle? It sounds like the only conditions to trigger its effect. Shouldn't its text say something like: and remains face-up on the field...
Okay, probably I'm missing some important point, but I would like some clarification...

Thanks...

Because it's like watching the Sun Set. If you don't see it when it happens, just because it did, doesnt mean you can say you witnessed it happen.

Hydrogeddon must actually be on the field in order for his effect to properly resolve when the monster is sent to the Graveyard. His effect Triggers upon Battling and Destroying a Monster, but if he doesnt remain on the field when it is sent to the Graveyard, he cannot summon another Hydrogeddon with his Optional Effect.

Actually, it doesn't trigger until the card is sent to the Graveyard after being destroyed by battle. At that time, "Hydrogeddon" is also destroyed, and destroyed monsters have no effect.

It doesnt matter that Hydrogeddon cannot use his effect because he is destroyed. Both cards go to the Graveyard at the same time, so again, he will not be on the field when his "Optional Effect" would be activated.

If your explanation were true, then Chainsaw Insect would not allow your opponent to draw a card when he Battles Jinzo.

"Chainsaw Insect" has completely different timing. It doesn't even mention the Graveyard.

Perhaps my explanation was a little off, but if mine was, so was yours. You said that the effect triggers when he does battle and destroys a monster. The effect says you're wrong.

Either way, the end result is that you can't use his effect if he's destroyed in battle at the same time as the monster he's destroying. On that we both agree.

so,if my newdoria is destroyed by hydrogeddon and i use the effect of newdoria to destroy the attacking hydrogeddon,my opponent can not special summon another hydrogeddon?

The effects will actually form a SEGOC chain with the controller of "Newdoria" being Link 1 and choosing the monster to destroy with "Newdoria"s effect at activation. Since "Hydrogeddon" will be link 2, it will resolve before "Newdoria" can destroy it, so the next "Hydrogeddon" will still be special Summoned.

Hope this helps!

This is true. However, there are two possible scenarios too look at when Hydrogeddon attacks Newdoria and when Newdoria attacks Hydrogeddon.

P1 Normal Summons Hydrogeddon and attacks P2's face down Newdoria. They form a SEGOC chain with the Turn Player's effect being Link 1. The Turn Player is P1, thus Hydrogeddon is Link 1 and P2's Newdoria is Link 2. Newdoria resolves and destroys the first Hydrogeddon. The first Hydrogeddon resolves and P1 Special Summons 1 Hydrogeddon from his/her Deck.

Now lets change the scenario a little bit.

P1 Normal Summons Newdoria and attacks P2's face up Attack Position Hydrogeddon. Newdoria is destroyed as a result of battle. The effects form a SEGOC chain with the Turn Player's effect being Link 1. The Turn Player is P1, thus Newdoria is Link 1 and P2's Hydrogeddon is Link 2. Hydrogeddon resolves first and P2 Special Summons 1 Hydrogeddon from his/her Deck. P1's Newdoria resolves and he/she selects one of P2's Hydrogeddon.

I could be wrong. =/

"Newdoria" being a Mandatory Effect will never be link 2 when those two monsters attack each other. "Hydrogeddon" is an Optional Effect and will always be placed on the SEGOC chain after "Newdoria".

Remember, the SEGOC chain is built as follows....

Turn Player Mandatory Effect(s)
Opponent Mandatory Effect(s)
Turn Player Optional Effect(s)
Opponent Optional Effect(s)
