*sob* Poor thing was taken from it's cozy SJC holder and thrown into a scratched up piece of junk toploader. Man, if I had one of these you can bet that A) I'd never sell it, and B) it would remain in pristine mint condition for all eternity.

(Yes, I noticed that the "SJC-EN002", the passcode and the copyright are mysteriously missing from that first picture, but not the second -- my post is not about trying to prove if it's real or not, just how mistreated it is to throw in in a crappy $0.01 top loader like that.)

If the card was treated that badly, the people handling them are SOBs.

It's ok...its not your card or my card. We can just say tsk tsk and shake in disapproval...

When they are given out they only come in plastic wrapping like the game promos. At least the Steins did not 100% sure about now.
edit: also the number is on both pictures just glared out on the first.

The DV's given out at the SF SJC were both in toploaders, GOOD toploaders. I know because I had my 10 seconds of fame...er..holding them..along with the other jujdges.

That may have been something they started doing or something the T.O. did. At Charlotte the Stein was just in plastic. Either way he should have bought a new top loader.

Maybe its just me, but a shiny new Top Loader isnt going to increase or decrease the value of Des Volstgalph. Just because it has a Forest full of scratches on the outside doesnt mean its going to damage the card on the inside.

At least he has it protected. Its better than him just putting it in a regular Card Sleeve. Someone will still buy it regardless of the packaging it uses.

How is that going to hinder the final value? You be smart to sell this card now while you can get some thousands for it now, otherwise you will look silly when it does get reprinted. Scuff marks on a toploader would not convince me otherwise that the card is in bad shape when you can see it has another plastic protecting it.

Would you buy something knowing that the item was not placed in a new container?

If you went to buy a DVD player and found that the box was scruffed up with lots of scratches, torn bits of cardboard where tape had been and maybe even had a few holes in it, would you still buy it, even though the actual machine inside was really still safe, intact and 100% mint?

If you had no choice but to buy it, would you readily accept the retail price or would you at least make an attempt to negotiate the price to a lower value?

Similar concept here.

Totally different concept. The card is not sold for a MSRP for retail. It is sold in an auction based environment and you should go into that mind frame that the things you purchase are most likely used. The case has little importance to me, it is the card itself that matters and from what I can see nothing is wrong with it. Did you want him to spend $100 on some shiny gold plated case or something to display it in?

I think he should have put it in a better case so the pictures would have turned out better. You really can't tell if the card is a fake or not from them. I doubt it is but you never know.

A screw-down 1/4" thick case would have cost all of $0.99. I know, since I have a bunch of them. When you're going to make $3000 of pure profit, it's the least you can do.

I use screw-downs for any card I sell for more than $50.00. Without exception.

Whether it is an auction or not, the principle is the same. Maybe I should've included these words in my previous post: Trust and Reliability.

His feedback is over 221 and 100% positive. No reason not to trust the person. Not to mention this eBay. He could so not get away with ripping someone off for a few thousands without the legal side of things getting called upon.
