Well, if you didn't get a reply yet, there's a chance of one of the few scenerios has happened...

A: They never recieved your email for sponsorship in the first place, so that's why you have not seen any reply.

B: They recieved your email, but Ian must have forgotten to add your email to the long list of others that recieved an email saying that they weren't accepted (I recieved such an email as I believe someone else mentioned they did too).

C: They recieved your email and you were accepted, but someone from UDE has yet to contact you for details due to some unknown reason. This could be hte most likely scenerio considering how slow UDE is to bone up on somethings sometimes... but I would have though they'd have more then just one person working on this, but it could just be Ian... =/

Other then that *Shrugs*, Who knows what's going on.

Good to hear from you Helpoemer316. Hope you are right with suggestion c. I have to buy my plane ticket tomorrow for Mexico. I guess work comes before pleasure. Anyway has anyone here received email stating they received sponsorship yet? Will UDE do the same thing for GenCon Indy? Hope to see you there Helpoemer316.

I doubt right now that I'll be at Origins that weekend, the issue of funds and how I'm getting there have come up and since it's like only a little over 2 weeks away, I'd need a miracle to get there. As far as Indy goes, I'm not sure, I know that UDE has already started the application process for judges for PC Indy at GenCon so you would have that if they were going to do it for the SJC there that they would have already announced something on the YGO judges list.

So I don't think they will be doing judge sponsorship for GenCon Indy... but that doesn't mean they won't, you would just think that they would have already announced something by now if they were.

I have already received conformation that I am working the Shonen Jump tournament on Saturday and Sunday at GenCon. This came straight from Ian. I am also taking my level 3 test sometime at that event. Hope to see you all there.

I applied for PC Indy sponsorship to judge there, so hopefully I can get that. I'd want to play there, but once again, it looked like if that were the case I wasn't gonna be able to get there, so the only thing I could do is apply for partial sponsorship of flight there and back and room with a friend I know is going to be there.

I also got turned down... o_O

I guess it's not good to live in Europe if you want to get a sponsorship for an American event... :(

So better luck next time to me...

and good luck to Big Ol' taking his test!!!
Beat my score!!! *lol* (not a big deal... ^^)

soul

Well, I got turned down. So did my friend the only level 2 in our state. Funny.

At nationals, 1/2 of the judges rocked. And well the other half... I guess it is a learning experiance for everyone.

Wish they would help get more people there who want to work and help out. BTW I didn't get invited, too.

Even though its after the fact now, I never received an email from anyone at UDE. I emailed before Nats and the response was we sent one, but look in your spam folder. It was not there. Anyway I will see everyone at GenCon Indy at the Shonen Jump.

The judges that were present where there for one of two reasons, first, they've had a great deal of experience at high level events or second because they were local judges that volunteered. More inexpereinced judges were placed under the guidance of the more expereinced judges.

It's virtually impossible to get 10 L3 judges that have a great deal of high level tournament expereince and are available at the same time. Not only is the experience important but the level of maturity and the ability to work under extreme pressue for long periods of time for days on end.

The overall thought by the judges was that it wasn't a perfect performance but indeed a HUGE improvement over the previous Nationals. We're getting there, look for next years nationals to be better yet.

I was not implying I should have been chosen to judge. My point was UDE should respond when they said they would. Not just a " Well I think we responded to you, check your spam file" . I understand experience means alot. Not just experience with rules but with player management and all the little things you do not expect. This is why I will continue to work other high level events in the future to gain more experience. I believe you(John Danker) said in a past post," If you are judging for the benefit of payment or product that is the wrong reasons to be judging". If you do not gain personal satisfaction in knowing you did a good job or to push yourself to do better when you fell a little short, then a person should not be judging at all. I don't believe any judge is going to get rich from doing this. This is all about self enjoyment and comradery with other people who enjoy the game.
