An interesting thing about some cards is that the pics pay homage to other creations of Konami.

Gradius/Vic Viper and Option are the most obvious ones. And everyone knows that the Gradius games also have Cyclon Laser, The Statue of Easter Island, and Big Core :)

Tactical Espionage Expert. Do I need to explain this one?

Vampire Lord. Castlevania reference, maybe? (It'd be neat if they make cards based on any of the Belmonts or other characters; or even the items like holy water, cross, etc.)

Contra Soldier/4/Earth/Warrior
1800/1400
"up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select, start"

How's that for a Contra Card?

Isn't that the code for Gradius? ... or is it for gaining 30 lifes??

Both Lady Ninja Yae and Sasuke Samurai originated in the Mystical Ninja/ Ganbare Goemon games.

Getsu Fuhma and Ryu Kokki were the hero and final boss of an obscure, Japan-only NES game Getsufuuma Densetsu (sometimes translated as Getsufuu Maden).

I think Flame Champion is also supposed to be a reference to one of the Suikoden Games.

Aitsu, Koitsu, Soitsu, and Doitsu all originated in the Parodius series.

And this one is probably completely unintentional, but Black Tyranno was the name of one of the bosses in the Squaresoft RPG Chrono Trigger.

And don't forget the card that comes in Elemental Energy: Nanobreaker, based on the game by the same name ;)

I loved the NES: Lunar Pool, Dragon Warrior, Zelda.....the list goes on and on, but anyways....

There was a thread I saw a few weeks ago about the Gradius refeences in a few of the newer cards: three of the bosses
Big Core
B.E.S. Crystal Core
some monster from ELE

Ah, konami. Did they make Rygar or was that another video game company? Seeing a card of Rygar would be cool. And his shield thing...YEAH!

Sorry, Rygar was Tecmo (the same people who made Ninja Gaiden)
