Konami Wins Appeals Court Ruling In European 'Yu-Gi-Oh!' Distribution Case

The Amsterdam Court of Appeals has ruled in favor of Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. in an appeal proceedings against Upper Deck International in a case stemming from KDE’s termination last December of its distributorship agreement with Upper Deck that designated Upper Deck International as the exclusive distributor of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game in Europe, Latin America, and Oceania.

So even UD International is out of the picture...

And, of course, Konami is calling it a "terrific victory for the legions of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Duelists worldwide" in the news section on their YGO site.

They would, but what they mean is that it's "a terrific victory for Konami, because we want to make more money out of something we previously didn't care about".

As mentioned before, we've all heard how UDE was the sane voice in the scheme, asking for reasonable card wording and rulings and fixed game mechanics, and how Konami was incredibly stubborn about the whole thing. With UDE out of the picture now, this game can only get worse (unless there's something approximating a miracle on the horizon).

I'm quite interested to see how things will turn out, it can't be all bad!!!

I just caught back up with this (I've obviously got to start checking up on this forum more often :D ).

I've been wondering how things were going with the lawsuits in Europe, but hadn't heard anything. Thanks for the update.
