Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer LON-EN062

Dark/Spellcaster/4/1800/700

Effect: Each time this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent's Life Points, you can remove from play up to 2 Monster Cards in your opponent's Graveyard. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, your opponent cannot remove from play any cards in either Graveyard.

Rulings:

[Re: Bazoo the Soul-Eater] Removing Monster Cards from the Graveyard is a cost of "Bazoo the Soul-Eater"'s effect, so if your opponent chains to the activation of this effect with "Call of the Haunted", to Special Summon "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer", the effect of "Bazoo the Soul-Eater" is not negated since the Monster Cards were already removed.

[Re: Book of Life] If you activate "Book of Life" and your opponent chains "Call of the Haunted" to Special Summon "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer", you still get to Special Summon 1 Zombie with Book of Life's effect (but do not remove 1 monster from your opponent's Graveyard).

[Re: Book of Life] You cannot activate "Book of Life" if your opponent controls "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer".

[Re: Dimension Jar] When "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" is on the field and "Dimension Jar" is activated, the controller of "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" can remove his/her opponent's cards in the Graveyard from play.

[Re: Lesser Fiend] Monsters destroyed by this card as a result of battle are not sent to the Graveyard, so "Sangan" or "Mystic Tomato" would not have their effects activated, and the effect of "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" will not prevent them from being removed from play.

[Re: Robbin' Goblin] If you have "Robbin' Goblin" on the field and attack with "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" or "The Bistro Butcher" both effects activate simultaneously. Since you control both effects you can chose the order that they go on a Chain, so you can have the opponent draw due to the effect of "The Bistro Butcher" and then discard for the effect of "Robbin' Goblin".

[Re: Soul Demolition] If "Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer" is on the field, the effect of this card cannot be activated.

Today we look at a monster card that puts a serious dent in any planning the opponent has for the graveyard, specifcally RFG summons.

Some may complain about him being weaker because he got errata'd but let's face it, even in this game's universe, spells and traps don't have spiritual energy so it should be reasonable that he only removes Monster cards. Same goes for Bazoo the SOUL eater.

Like yesterday's card, its about limiting the opponent's options in terms of what he can use in the graveyard. And with this card around, your opponent can't play powerful RFG summons like the envoys, Chaos Socerrer, Nercofear, and the like. Not to mention that it'll keep your opponent out of your graveyard in terms of removing.

He's pretty decent but he won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Well, he's my cup of tea. Especially with Chaos running rampant in these parts. Any chance I get to weaken and/or crippled that Graveyard is a chance I'm gonna take.

Isn't the updated text that he can remove any 2 cards from the graveyard? Not just monster cards?

Soul Release removes anything from the graveyard. so you cant say because it says soul it should be only monster cards.

and being dumbed down kind of kills it becuse sometimes you do want to remove spell cards.

like lets say they set a Magician of Faith and have attack position reaper, in their graveyard they have, Lightning Vortex and Snatch Steal.

you do damage and would be able to remove the possible threat, but now its only monsters.

in this game, monsters isnt the only thing to watch out for.

its a very good cad, when used in multiples. if you only use 1 then you arnt using his abilities to the fullest.

The other way around. Originally it said remove any 2 cards... Kycoo was errata-ed to say remove 2 Monster Cards.

You serious? Some guy cheated me at the last tournament!!!!

Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer... fond memories with this guy...

Kycoo used to be my favorite card way back before Breaker and later Shinato came out. I had a spellcaster deck, and this guy was a welcome edition. My Kycoos stayed in my service until my Amazoness Deck came around, and even now he's in my side deck. Kycoo is simply one of the better cards in the game, IMHO.

Kycoo works well with decks that focus on taking the opponent's graveyard away, then using Graverobber's Retribution. Deadly combos there. He also is great as an anti-chaos card.

Rating:
(Traditional) 3/5.
(Advanced) 3.5/5.
(Certain Deck, Trad. or Adv.) 4.5/5.

Art:
4.5/5. Totally awesome art here. Still trying to figure out what the kanji in the background says.
