Lava Golem question...

This came up at a local tournament... the opponent was playing a jougan/last turn deck/wall of revealing light OTK, I was playing burn. We were both very low on LP. He had a F/D monster and jougan face up, He set the Wall of revelaing light and last turn and ended his turn... I drew Lava golem he plays the wall of revelaing light and last turn at the same time I am playing the Lava golem I just drew to kill off jougan. He said that you can not special summon during your standby phase and lava golem was a spell speed 1 effect and that wall and last turn would work before lava golem hit the field. I just want to know who is right here the opponent saying that you cant special summon lava golem in your own standby phase or me...

Well, he is right about the Standby Phase. You can only summon a monster in Main Phase 1 or 2 unless a card effect states different.

Since you drew Lava Golem, that means that he isnt eligible to be used for the Special Summon for "Last Turn's" effect, as you must send all cards in hand and field to the Graveyard and summon a monster from your Deck.

you got ***** maite.

1. last Turn + jowgen, the only thing that would have helped you was a Book of Moon.
2. You cannot summon during standby.

3. This is the main reason why your supposed to state your phases!

man just like when my bro played waboku to me summoning Jinzo.

after a slap in his face he never did it again.

I don't think you're even allowed to attempt to summon Lava Golem while Jowgen the Spiritualist is face-up on the field, anyway, since Lava Golem is a Special Summon, are you?

and also sinister serpent. since its during ur standby phase. u activate sinisters effect after last turn's effect resolves, then summon on main phase two for a draw. you still get ur phases!

Or he could have used "Offerings to the Doomed" or if "Ring of Destruction" was set, blow something up for game.

Go download the December version of the ARRJ from the Netrep site as it has just about everything you need to know about "Last Turn".

Actually, Sinister serpent's ATK is high enough to kill Jowgen, so if you attack it would not be a draw because you would control the only monster and win via the effect of Last Turn.

Last Turn decks are pretty popular in my local metagame so I see this a lot. lol

On the off-chance you or someone else viewing this topic didn't check the topic that was solely about this issue:

You can Special Summon Lava Golem if you pick Jowgen the Spiritualist as one of the Tributes since Jowgen will no longer be face-up on the field.
