legendary fisherman rulings

i regularly compete in tournaments here in vegas and i have recently consturcted a water deck. i am frequently told that there is a ruling regarding the legendary fisherman which states that if he and Umi or Legendary Ocean are on the feild together and he is the only monster on your side of the feild, that your opponent can attack your life points directly instead. Where does this come from? i have searched a number of yugioh sites and cannot find ANY rulings on fisherman at all. and Konami only has a text change on him. Can someone clarify this for me!?!?! i compete in advance fomat sanctioned tournaments and this is distressing b/c there is never an agreement even between judges.

Who said it wasn't odd? I simply believe in waiting for more rulings while trying to figure it out with current info. Mayhap not all activated effects go on chain.

B'sides, notice that I was asking for "backup" to the claim that Chaos Magician was not Trigger.

As far as Chaos Command Magician is concerned, the "proof" is in the fact that the words "activate" or "trigger" are never used in any of its rulings. Go check it out for yourself using the link. All arrows point to it being Continuous.

They do have Continuous/Triggers in YGO, there are MANY examples, but by definition they are not called Triggers, because they do not use the chain. Thats why they are Continuous.

Yes, the Archfiends and Big Shield Gardna should be included in that.

That is, and will always be, my feeling on it.

That's why i put "quotes" around proof.

There is nothing in print that states specifically whether it is a "Trigger" or "Continuous" so unfortunately i'm forced to find other more obscure ways of defining it.

I've found that in most rulings where activated effects are being discussed usually the word "activate" appears or pops up somewhere.

But don't think that i believe that it is real proof, but unfortunately there is nothing solid here in any direction.

I'm not trying to insult your intelligence.
