Mad Hatter and recruiting

Okay this happen to me today during a friendly little match and i was wondering how this would work and if it is legal.

I had build first and i recruited a character then used Mad Hatters effect to steal a character from my opponent. During his recruit he recruited a character the same character that i stole from him.

Now the question was brought up what woudl happen to the character he recruited when the one I stole is returned during recovery.

I told him that nothing happens since when you recruited him it was legal since i was controling the character not him. He was uncertain so i told him i would post here for the answer. So whats the deal on this scenerio?
 
Uniqueness is checked only at recruitment for characters. When Mad Hatter's effect expires, your opponent would have both characters with the same name on the field.
 
thats what i thought. My opponent won that game becuase he got two pyros on the field and keep hitting me for 6 every turn. after he won he didnt think it was right to have them both out so i told him i would check to be sure.

Reveal Scarlet Spider from your hand -> Characters cards named Spider-Man are not unique this turn. Use this power only while Scarlet Spider is in your hand.

I'm kind of confused of this one ... Ok u reveal scarlet and during this turn all named spiderman characters are not unique but how about the next turn? u have to reveal scarlet again or it wont checked uniqueness? thx for the answers ...
 
If you aren't recruiting Spider-Man this turn, you don't need to worry about Scarlet Spider's effect. Uniqueness is only checked when a character is recruited. If Spider-Man is not being recruited by you, the game won't look for any other cards named Spider-Man and the Spider Man cards on the field will be fine.
