Magic Box

Ok, here's where my beef comes in. This last sentence has an 'and' in it. That means both effects are bound to each other. The second effect cannot resolve if the first one doesn't, IMHO.
Ok, I just realized I'm an idiot..lol. The 'and' denotes more of a simultaneous action/event. If it had a 'then' instead, my logic would be more accurate..lol.

I have realized the error of my ways.
I am now agreeable to the 'resolve as much as possible' thingy.

Ok, just took a shower and im all ready to go LOL!...

LOL. I hope you are asleep now ;) Ow well... you can't remember all those exceptions every time...

I was Benja :p

oh well it seems everything's cleared up already yes??

Keep in mind that Mystic Box targets and Creature Swap doesn't.
Huh?

Both players select 1 monster from their respective sides of the field and switch control of those monsters with each other. The selected monsters cannot change their battle positions this turn.
and then...

Select 1 monster on each side of the field. Destroy the selected opponent's monster and Shift control of your selected monster to your opponent.
Both cards select monsters. How can you say one targets and the other does not?

And then there's nothing stopping the player from selecting his own Horus LV6 or Blindly Loyal Goblin to prevent his monster from switching over to his opponent's control?

What if Compulsory Evacuation Device is chained to Mystic Box? The effect is negated because the selected monster is no longer on the field?

*scratches head feverishly* (Between Comm. Law, Investigative Reporting, rulings questions, and the YGO card name game, my brain is mush, lol)

Which is why Horus LV6 won't be affect no matter which field it's on when you activate Mystic Box and select him. He's going to stay where he is and the rest of Mystic Box resolves.

Understand what I'm getting at?

EDIT: Btw Jathro, that's one huge signature image. @_@

So you're saying the question here is: Does MB resolve as much as possible like Ceasefire, or are the effects interdependent like Dark World Thunder? And I would say, judging by the wording, that they are interdependent.

I'm not saying that Jason. I'm saying that Mystic Box will resolve completely with 100% of it's effect resolving. Horus LV6's effect is what prevents it from being affected by Mystic Box. There isn't any, "resolves as much as possible" if the card resolves completely.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't really see what the big fuss is about this. To me it's merely a matter of simple card text functionality.

I think what Jason in trying to emphasize is that if Horus is selected for any purpose (Shifting sides or being destroyed), then Mystic Box would not be able to resolve that part of the effect, so in any instance it would be resolving as much as possible.

I don't like using that phrase in this instance. I see it resolving completely, just Horus LV6's continuous effect kicks in. Mystic Box is resolving completely. However, half the effect doesn't affect Horus LV6.

To me it's like Horus LV6 drank the effect and said, "Thank you!" after Mystic Box resolves completely. That's just how I see it.

An effect that can't really accomplish everything that it is intended to do, regardless of the reason, will always try and resolve as much as possible.

This is like using Magician's Circle and one of the players lacking a legal spellcaster in his/her deck, it will resolve yes, but it won't resolve as it should, it will resolve as much as it can.
