Magical Arm Shield

I've been wondering how the effect Magical Arm Shield works.

1. Does my opponent's monster actually get destroyed and does he/she take battle damage or do I?

2. Do I get the effects of the monster that is battling/destroyed?

3. What happens if Spear Cretin gets targeted?

Unlike when a monster battles Ancient Lamp, when you activate Magical Arm Shield, you physically take control of another monster your opponent controls (so they have to have at least 2). So when the battle plays out (and since the monster being attacked is on your side of the field), you would be able to use/benefit from whatever effects possible (DD Warrior Lady, a face down Mask of Darkness, etc.) while your opponent would benefit if the monster destroyed has a graveyard effect (Giant Rat, Apprentice Magician, etc.)

As for who takes the battle damage, it's the same rules as any other battle.

Think of it this way. Say you had your opponent's monster because of Creature Swap and he attacks that monster. It would be the same as if you used Magical Arm Shield (though your opponent would regain control of the monster you targeted if it wasn't destroyed by battle).
