Magical Stone Excavation Restricted to 1 (Where it should have been in April)

3rd if you want to be technical.

1st was when Victory Dragon was announced it was coming.

2nd was the banning of Cyber-Stein.

Victory Dragon made sense at least since it was Restricted in Japan to start with so when the card was made available here that's where it should have gone. But MSE was already Restricted when it was released and they decided to keep it Unlimited. Of course now that Nationals and Worlds is right around the corner, the lists would have to match.

This is only the second time that they have changed the limitations of a card outside of the list changing completely, isn't it?
Well, you also have

Makyura the Destructor (immediately Restricted upon release, December 2004)
Cyber-Stein (immediately Banned December 2006)
Magical Stone Excavation (unrestricted English release, immediately restricted to one per Deck, 1 June 2007)

Makyura wasn't banned upon release. He wasn't even banned in Japan at that time either. He DID get banned at the next list but we did have a couple of months that we could play with him.

They ruin DDT which because of the high skill level needed to run it and its high cost was not a problem in the meta and leave the almost free and brain dead Demise alone. I for one am truely happy, NOT.

I seem to feel "Treeborn Frog" was restricted shortly after release.

MSE does nothing but better me. I'm getting tired of DDT materials being the base monetary unit of Pojo.

i actually meant to say Restricted upon release, and just never went back and changed it.

I don't recall him being restricted upon release either here because I know people were running him in multiples though noone quite figured out how to abuse him and then he got banned.

I think it was restricted because I was only looking to get one, that I could recall, and I bought dozens of packs before I finally just traded for it.

Exchange of the Spirit was limited to 1 when it was released, but then it was banned at the start of the next list. So it did see some time to be played in Advanced format. Makyura I think was also limited to 1 upon release, although I am not 100 percent sure on that one. But these cards were limited upon their RELEASE, becuase they really couldn't be limited before they were released (although didn't they do that once too?). This is the (and now I see 3rd) change of limitations of a card outside of release or entire list change, as far as I have seen.

Didn't they restrict Crush Card Virus before it appeared in the SJC? I know a few were leaked as alternative Sneak Preview promos instead of something else (Justi-Break?), supposedly accidentally. So technically it was restricted before it was officially released.

No, I don't think it was added because it wasn't even supposed to exist in English. The player(s) who owned the Crush Card Virus were not allowed to use the card until its official release at the SJC.

remember back in the day they adjusted the list everytime a new set came out (before the banlist) like when dcr came out 3 to 5 weeks later vampire lord was limited to one. they changed the list whenever something needed changing.
