Does Magical Thorn work with Needle Worm? I did not think that it did but I had someone argue me down the other day that it did.

Magical Thorn DOES NOT activate when Needle Worm's effect activates because the cards are discarded directly from the top of the deck, and are never considered drawn. Hence, they cannot be discarded from where they never were.

Yes it does. Anytime your opponent "discards" from his/her hand. As long as he/she is actually discarding and not "sending" "destroying" or "tributing" etc. these cards and as long as it's discarding from his/her hand (notice this would exclude cards "picked-up" from Morphing Jar #2)

Just remember that Magical Thorn has to be face-up and active before any discarding occurs in order to deal damage, so you could not activate it in responce to your opponent discarding. But you can chain it to an effect that forces your opponent to discard when the effect resolves. In other words, your Magical Thorn has resolved in the chain before your opponent has discarded.

Remember two that MT does damage per card, so if the discard thier hand for Card Destruction they take 1000 per card. That is so wrong.
