magical thorns & dark room of nightmare

After opening all of my packs of DB2, I have a lot of questions about the cards, but to make it easy on anyone who has the same questions, I am going to make them all separate threads. Sorry mods! Anyway, here goes the first

A player has Magical Thorns and Dark Room of Nightmare on their side of the field. They activate Card Destruction and their opponent has 3 cards in hand.

Is the damage 1800 ((3*500)+300) or is it 2400 ((3*500)+(3*300)

I shouldn't have to explain the numbers, you get it...right?

Which is it, and why?

I would think it's separate since Magical Thorn inflicts damage for each card so you will be inflicting 500 plus an additional 300 for each card discard making a total of 2400.

EDIT: Sorry for confusing, ignore what I said. Digital Jedi and Deathjester are 100% right.

Magical Thorn's effect deals damage per card for Card Destruction as per it's ruling:

"Magical Thorn" deals damage per card, so if the opponent activates "Graceful Charity" they will take 1000 points of damage when they discard 2 cards. If they discard 5 cards to activate "Final Destiny" they take 2500 points of damage.

The ruling Deathjester quoted means that the damage Magical Thorn inflicts is a lump sum. In other words, Card Destruction triggers Magical Thorn's effect dealing its 500 ponts of damage for each card. However, all the damage it inflicts for Card Destruction is considered one lump sum, a single shot at your Life Points, so it will only trigger card effects like Dark Room of Nightmare once.
