Magician of Faith MRD-EN036

Magician of Faith MRD-EN036
Spellcaster/Effect
FLIP: Select 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard. Add the selected card to your hand.

Who doesn't like to reuse a Spell card. In the new format it is more powerful than ever. This with Apprentice Magician in a deck makes it even better. Not to mention one is light and the other dark. Because Change of Heart is gone you no longer have to worry about your opponent getting the effect. Granted there is still Creature Swap but they won't be able to use it that turn. The only set back I see is Nobleman of Crossout but that isn't to damaging.

One thing I have learned about the new format is hand management is the key to winning. The occasional topdeck may save you but more than often you will lose if you start topdecking. With Magician of Faith you can recycle some cards and even get an advantage over your opponent by using Pot of Greed, Deliquent Duo, and Graceful Charity multiple time. This card should have been restricted to 1 when the new format came into play. Its just to good in the right deck.

Yes, Magician of Faith is now more powerful than ever. People avoided running more than 1. Why? Change of Heart is practically the main reason. 1 Card out of a deck of 40 cards? What are the chances? I'm not good math, so the ratio cannot be determined but believe me, it has happen much too often. With Change of Heart gone, Magician of Faith is definite to run 2 to 3. 3 Is a bit overboard, 2 is fine, but forget this is a Light attribute, good to run for Chaos and the like Control Decks.

Allow me to set the scene for everyone...

My opponent is going first. Opening turn he played Pot of Greed, set a face-down monster and played Delinquent Duo on me. Then set another card in the S/T zone. End of turn.

My turn I summoned a monster, set something in the S/T zone and declared an attack. He played Enemy Controller to change my monster to defense. End of my turn.

His turn he flips his face-down - it's Magician of Faith. Gets back Delinquent Duo and removes the final 2 cards in my hand. Now that's painful.

Needless to say I was screwed after that.

I agree about two Magician of Faith, 3 is overload and at times a deth draw but it is more n' more useful each day, combo it with Creature Swap send her faceup and steal a beatup cookie from the other side and wham!!!!! bonus hit plus bonus monster plus chaos summonning food in your graveyard....

In this case, what is the difference between Change of Heart and Mind Control ? Change of Heart cannot be the only reason why people didn't play it. Magician of Faith has come back because Graceful Charity and Delinquent Duo came back. With Pot of Greed, they provide real card advantage and because they are 3 cards out of 40, Magician of Faith has more chances to smack a clean hit.

Well, one difference between Change of Heart and Mind Control is that Change of Heart is good, and Mind Control is not. There is a big difference in getting a monster you can do whatever you want with for a turn through Change of Heart to the very restrictive use of a monster with Mind Control. Wait for Brain Control for a Change of Heart replacement card.

However, I don't know why Magician of Faith is so much more useful now than it was. Nobleman of Crossout was, is, and may always be its worst enemy and it is still restricted to 2. Magician of Faith can be a good monster, but there are also many cases where it isn't useful. Its a flip which makes it slow, and it doesn't give you any direct field advantage, it actually might hurt your field since it won't stand up to a hit by most of anything. Magician of Faith's effectiveness always depends on what magic cards you have in your grave at the time and it isn't too hard to get good cards in there. Don't go wasting a magic card just so you can get it back with Magician of Faith, though.

Overall it is a good card when you can pull its effect off often.

Mind Control can be quite deadly more often than not. but this post is about Magician of Faith...

A must for Ritual Decks, Fusion Decks, and other decks that have monsters that need to be summoned with spell cards. Also a nice card to have for any deck. who doesnt want to use Pot of Greed 2/3/4 times a duel??

Not too much more to be said really.
