Malfunction question

Is the Trap Card negated by "Malfunction" considered to have been set? Meaning, the opponent would not be able to activate that Trap Card again the turn it is negated by "Malfunction" correct?

Thanks.

<sigh> I never said you did. I simply was pointing out that's why I mentioned it in the first place, as a rebuttal to those who were saying it was effectively useless if the trap could be activated again that turn.

To quote myself, "The card is garbage!!!" Just kidding!!

But really, its a gadget card, and it could essentially take up a spot for something that would be better suited in your deck.

Are you going to use it on Dust Tornado or Bottomless Trap Hole? Maybe, maybe not, but in my opinion, unless you get a really game defining moment to spring it in, more than likely it is going to be destroyed by the numerous other effects that take out Trap Cards before you get a chance to use it.

I like negation in all it's various forms. "Better suited" is a term that is higly dependent on your deck construction and your playing style. What's "better suited" for what you are trying to do, will depend on what you trying to do. Why look at it as somthing that is not good as something already out there? Instead look upon it as something to supliment what is already out there. Or to fill a place that had no filler once before.

Yes, I understand that. Im just saying that a card like Seven Tools of the Bandit is already running in your Deck. Do you add Malfunction as well, or replace it? If you replace it, then you have to really have an optimum time to activate it because they are getting the card back that you negated. So you may have to do more "swap outs" to fit a card like Malfunction into a pre-existing deck.

One must look at when Seven Tools of the Bandit is working for him. Is 1000 Life Points worth it, when your only responding to traps activated during the Battle Phase? How many time do you need to negate something activated? All purpose cards are great, when your deck is all purpose. But there are builds where timing is the only issue, and the extraneous side effects of the card are not only unnecessary, but counterproductive. Trap Jammer suits a deck where you only need to negate traps in the Battle Phase and nowhere else. Malfunction just might find a place in decks where summoning and attacking are it's only weak points and where only a few hits are necessary.

I have to put this out here. One of my fellow Monarchs, Great Dragon, gave me this and it works so well.

Malfunction + Nobleman of Extermination. One of the biggest reasons Nobleman of Extermination doesn't get run is that too many traps can chain and avoid it. But with Malfunction, its going to be awfully hard to prevent your trap(s) from getting removed by NoE. :) I found it so fun, Im currently hunting for 2 more Malfunction.
