Manticore of Darkness and Outstanding Dog Marron

NINJA4LIFE
Just recently got a couple Manitcore's, and outside of using them for the obvious "Exodia Combo" (which by the way is probably the most fun OTK I've ever played :D), I wanted to find a way to blend them into a Ectoplasmer type Deck.

One of the cards I am looking at using as a support Beast is Outstanding Dog Marron.

Tributing Manticore at the End Phase of my turn would trigger his effect, allowing me to send Marron to the Graveyard and bring back Manticore. With him being sent to the Graveyard, he would return to my deck, so I would always have him somewhere in it waiting to be drawn, and with him being searchable by Shining Angel and Rescue Cat, I dont think he would be that hard to get to the field if needed.

My question is, does his only being "sent" to the Graveyard satisfy the requirement for returning Manticore, or, because of his effect that returns him to the deck "from" being sent to the Graveyard does this not fulfill the recursion of Manticore of Darkness?

I think Outstanding Dog Marron is an acceptable tribute. Because Marron's effect is mandatory, it will activate after the Manticore effect has fully resolved. By that point. Manticore is already out there, so it doesn't care that the little puppy went back to his home 8^D

What would be REALLY interesting to see if you could pull off is a Last Will with all of this. Just imagine. Activate Last Will Main Phase Two, tribute Manticore, using Marron. Activate Marron's effect to go to the deck, then use Last Will's effect to put Marron back on the field for the next round 8^D

I'd been meaning to do some studying up on the monster Mystical Knight of the Jackal. I had never looked up weather the monster it destroyes is sent directly to the top of the deck or if it went to the graveyard first and then to the top of the deck (it makes a huge difference obviously)

What I saw on Ronin might help your thought pattern and enlighten many.

Outstanding Dog Marron

3. [Re: Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch] If you Tribute Summon "Thestalos the Firestorm Monarch" successfully, and your opponent discards a monster like "Outstanding Dog Marron" or "Regenerating Mummy", you still inflict damage because the monster was discarded to the Graveyard (even though it doesn't remain there).

Mystical Knight of Jackal

6. "Mystical Knight of Jackal" sends a monster to the Graveyard as a result of battle, and THEN returns it to the top of the deck, so "Sangan" or "Witch of the Black Forest", etc., will activate their effects..

10 [Re: Outstanding Dog Marron] When "Mystical Knight of Jackal" attacks "Outstanding Dog Marron" and destroys it, the effects are simultaneous. So "Mystical Knight of Jackal"'s effect is Step 1 of a chain and "Outstanding Dog Marron" is Step 2. "Outstanding Dog Marron" is returned to the Deck and "Mystical Knight of Jackal"'s effect Disappears.

Last Will is interesting... I think I like that idea also! I may try putting something together soon and see how it runs.

It's pretty difficult to rule out Fusilier the Dual Mode Beast when thinking about an Ectoplasmer based deck though. Would it be out of the question to work them into what you're thinking?

Thanks! That's the confirmation I needed! With all the new twist and turns of the Graveyard recently, its really been hard to pin down a lot of effects with a "comfortable" feeling about their activation and resolution.

One of the main things I want to have, is field control, as well as being able to inflict large amounts of damage when able with Ectoplasmer, so Fusilier wouldnt be out of the question.

Of course, as long as I have an ample amount of beast type monsters, I can afford to toss in a few since they can easily be summoned to the field.

Soul Exchange then might be a nice way to help you with field control while taking advantage of Ectoplasmer as well. That's like adding insult to injury....which, of course, we all love in this game <laffin>

Feeling imaginative? Remember that the Sphinx monsters are beasts as well. Pyramid of Light, pay 500, special summon a 2500 or 3000 atk monster and use it for Ectoplasmer. Or, toss it for Manticore's effect and Call of the Haunted or Premature brings it back.

Oh man!! You are CRUEL!!! At least those "Binder Bugs" would finally have a purpose! lol

One major flaw though... They can't be Special Summoned from the Graveyard, so I would have to summon them to the field.

There you go....nice thought. Problem is you can only send 1 of them with Ectoplasmer....unless you have two Ectoplasmers of course. Half your life points might be a bit pricey for the effect.
