This list is not too bad. It probably should have been a little bit more restrictive. As I have stated in a previous threads, the card and its composite should always be banned. An example is Witch and Sangan. Sangan when you really think about it is ends up just like WOTBF, just finding weaker monster, which is just as deadly or possible use of Crush Card. Personally, I prefer a more proactive approach in banning. I will wait for confirmation, before I make any decisions. Here is some food for thought:
Unbanning Pot is not too bad. But here is something everyone should consider, Graceful Charity has you draw 3 cards, and discard 2, while Pot of Greed has you draw 2 random cards which will save you or kill you (assuming you deck out or draw two cards that are not of any use, that is unless you are the Pharaoh and somehow make Double Spell out of nowwhere, lol) because, the cards will be useless at the time or you will deck yourself out.
Now Graceful at first glance may not seem two deadly, but think about this. You get two cards in the Graveyard, more than likely you will discard monsters, which are easily sent to Graveyard, and then revived, or removed from the game to be revived via Dimension Fusion or a Special Summon of some sort. Just imagine Graceful with the Sky Demon Lords. It should be harder to send monsters to the Graveyard. Don't forget we still don't have Foolish Burial yet, which I want.
The smart way to play Graceful is obviously to discard cards from your original hand, so that way you really lose much, and get to keep 3 cards in your hand. This mainly goes for playing GC first time. The second time around that Graceful is played you may lose something of value. In addition a large part of the Yugioh game is the Normal Summon and Special Summon, which Graceful easily allowed.
When Pot of Greed was banned, what really made it so deadly? Was it Pot itself, or cards that allowed you easily reuse Pot of Greed? There are other examples, in which the card that allowed the unbanned card allowed the banned card to work at its maximum potential, and not the card itself. The first one that comes to mind for me is Catapult Turtle. Can anyone find examples of cards that also fit this scenario?
Believe or not it would be the cards that allowed Pot to be easily reused, not Pot itself that made it so deadly. Which cards allowed this Magician of Faith, Spell Reproduction (which I am suprised has not been played a lot), and Magical Stone Excavation.
Scenario #1
Graceful Charity reused by MOF, so you draw six cards and discard four cards.
Scenario #2
Now just imagine Magical Stone Excavation reused with Graceful Charity. In total with MSE you would be able draw six cards and discard 4+2 cards, for a total of six. (Dr. Collector performed this excellent move), or Magical Stone Excavation used with Pot of Greed instead and drawing 4 cards, and dumping only 2 cards.
In the case of Pot of Greed I believe it is 1:2 ratio or 1/2, am I correct?
Scenario #2.5 (very scary, and World Champion worthy move)
And the possibilities are even deadlier with Magician of Faith and Spell Reproduction in conjunction with MSE and Graceful Charity. This could be an endless loop (but is not an infinite loop by anymeans), since Spell Reproduction is not limited, along with the semi-restricting of Night Assailant (along with use Soul Reversal, and just maybe Hidden Book of Spell). Or just using MOF (which is now restricted), to draw 4 cards with no consequence. This was one of the reasons that Pot was banned in the first place. I mean you never know if MOF could even be banned, since it is deadlier overall for allowing the use of the Pot with no consequence, but at least with MSE you lose something.
Scenario #3
If Future Fusion was to be banned, and Overload Fusion was to be restricted, this could be a great alternative for dumping monsters in your graveyard.
Now this is not to say that Spells or Traps will not be discarded, but this is something to definetely think about.
Conclusion
By the way does anyone know how Kazuki Takahashi is involved in the ban list? I wonder how he is involved. Maybe he might have had something to do with Pot of Greed being unbanned, after all almost all the GX duelists use this card, especially when they were in a tight spot. Hardly anyone would play Disgraceful Charity or Graceful Charity. Has anyone besides myself ever noticed that?
This food for thought is no way proclaiming whether I think Pot or Graceful should be banned, this is something I am still contemplating. So then I ask once more is it the card itself that makes it ban worthy, or the card it used in conjunction with that makes it deadly? (e.g.-MOF with Pot of Greed, and the annoying Tsukyomi)
