Metalmorph FMR-003

A highly overlooked card. Not only does it give you a small ATK boost when activated, but it gives the added bonus of raising the ATK of your monster by half of the ATK of the monster it attacks. That boost can let some of your weaker monsters take down your opponent's stronger monsters. Since the effect only works during your battle phase, the card isn't so broken. But it still is plenty useful and can surprise most players since it most don't see it played.

Also, with this card, you can help bring out "Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon" and "Metalzoa" if you have "Red-Eyes B. Dragon" or "Zoa" on the field and equip those monsters with "Metalmorph". However "Metalmorph" is far more effective on just about any monster in the game.

Unfortunately, it's too risky to rely on a Red-Eyes Black Metal Dragon when in a tournament. Since the metal dragon states that it has to be summoned from your deck and not your hand and/or your deck.

But Metalmorph is indeed an overlooked card in many areas.

If you think about it... it doesn't really do much that a standard equipment card can do. An Axe of Despair or Mage Power (or United we Stand in Traditional) are faster cards that will probably have about the same result. In fact... they'll do better than Metalmorph if you're attacking directly, or if your monster is attacked.

The metal monsters that can be summoned using this card are virtually useless. Considering all the resources you put into summoning either one, both cards and tempo, and the fact that the end result is worse than if you hadn't sacrificed the equipped monster in some cases, well... it pretty much defeats the purpose. It's a nice trick to use Inferno Fire Blast with Red Eyes, then change it up for its metal version, but it's better to do that with one of its Fusions, or use the upcoming Red Eyes Darkness Dragon, which is a special summon.

There is a use for this card. I don't know what the english ruling is on this, but the Japanese ruling states that when it becomes an equipment card, it stays a Trap, unlike Blast with Chain. This means that it will work with anti Magic decks like Spell Cancellor, or Legendary Fisherman.
