Mobius Versus Torrential

If Mobius the Frost Monarch is tribute summoned and the opponent has two face down spell/traps and one of them is Torrential Tribute. Can the summoning player exercise priority and activate Mobius' effect and destroy Torrential Tribute? I don't think TT can be chained to Mobius' effect and, therefore, it seems to me the timing is wrong for TT to be activated to destroy Mobius. See nothing in Ronin about it.

"Torrential Tribute" can be chained to "Mobius the Frost Monarch"'s effect, even if it's one of the 2 cards targeted to be destroyed.

Reason: The last "successful" action was "Monster Summoned", so the state is correct to activate "Torrential Tribute".

So if I understand this then its

1. Mobius is summoned
2. Mobius' effect is activated but not resolved
3. Torrential is activated in response to the summons
4. Torrential resolves first destroying Mobius
5. Mobius effect resolves and the other spell/trap is destroyed
6. Mobius goes to the graveyard

Thanks for clearing that up. I haven't used the card yet in competition.

Well, Mobius would be sent to the graveyard when he's destroyed in step 4, but otherwise correct.

And well when I decked and ran Mobius... it seemed like everytime I brought him to the field, he was Torrential Tributed... *sigh*

It only took one time playing Mobius WITH Giant Trunade in my hand to know that unless they ONLY have 2 or less cards set and you have a Premature or Call, proceed with caution!!!

By the way, over confidence caused Mobius to get ate by "Bottomless Trap Hole", so the aforementioned cards didnt help anyway...

you dont neceserrally need 7 tools, If you werent running just brute power then things would be a bit different.

heck a simple a-team : trap disposal unit would have saved your monsters considering it was on the field at the time.

not to mention good old giant trunade. its practically a second heavy storm but doesnt destroy and gives you what you need, a field cleared.

not to mention the triggering of Emesarry of Harmony since you dont really want to send heavy and end up with opponent chaining that card.

Krazy ... I was running brute thugs, as you put it, because I had fusilier dragons played with skill drain. Giant Trunade would have removed Skill Drain along with the other s/t cards and it would have cost be 1000LP to reset it and activate it on the next turn. Plus A-Team Trap Disposal would be negated because of Skill Drain so that is a bit of a problemo for the deck I was running. Still thinking about ways around this. I lost one duel because I didn't side deck malice dispersion since I ran into Royal Decree (never seen one in play before). I thought the card would be counterproductive given my skill drain but I might sidedeck one in future.

A-Team wouldnt have been negated because it is tributed for its effect, so its off the field when it resolves in the Graveyard.

fusiler dragon is a great card, but why not just use book of moon?

scared of Dust tornado?

well think about it in this way, If they have 3 dust tornadoes that just means 3 less smashing grounds, 3 less fissures, etc...

cards that are actually worth playing.

Duster is good, but come on, that thing sucks when it comes down to top decking it.

unlike smashing or a-team

:)
