MST vs: Bottomless trap hole

I have a question it seems kinda novice of me,

but if I normal or tribute summon and they activate bottomless or trap hole. Let's say I have a face down mystical space typhoon I summon and they activate they're trap. Can't I still space it? Wouldn't mine go through first? I wouldn't think I could, but since all of this stuff on quick play keeps comming up I am just wondering....

thanx in advance for any reply!!!

You can MST it, but its pointless. Two things to remember:

1) The two cards would resolve in a chain with the last card being activated getting resolved first. So indeed your MST would "beat" bottomless trap hole because of the reverse resolution.

However...

2) MST merely destroys the card, it doesn't negate its effect, so even though Bottomless Trap Hole wasn't on the field, its effect would still go through.

You would want to use a 7 Tools of the Bandit or something like that to stop Bottomless Trap Hole

Hmm, I was wondering, can someone confirm this for me:

Player A summons a monster.
Player A uses priority to activate "Mystical Space Typhoon" on opponent's face down card ("Bottomless Trap Hole").
Player B responds to the summon with "Bottomess Trap Hole".

I'm kind of confused over here :?

This might be sideboarded to the Priority diiscussion in this forum, but I believe Priority is referring to the player's ability to use the effect of a monster upon its summoning (if available) or to be the first person to activate a Spell/Trap card at the beginning of the phase.

Similarly, if I were to MST a face down Bottomless Trap Hole, I'd activate MST before summoning the monster. 8^D

hmmm....

thats a tricky, cause but maybe, okay I think i got it.

the last thing you did was activate something in responce to the summon, so that means since its responding to the summon your opponent can activate Bottomless since the last thing going on is the summon.

just like the whole 2 sakuretsu during the same declaration or 3 magic drains during the same declaration.

eeep, sorry i mistakely said the wrong cards, its not magic drain since you just preaty much told me what magic drain is.

man its a rare trap that does the opposite of magic cylinders.

damn what is the name of this card!

This is a correct scenario by our current definition of Priority. When the turn player summons a monster during their Main Phase 1 or 2, they retain Priority to activate a cost effect (activated effect) or a spell speed 2 or higher effect. That means that they could activate "Mystical Space Typhoon" immediately after summoning. But, since the last thing to succesfully resolve was the summoning of a monster, Player B can still respond to the summon by chaining with "Bottomless Trap Hole."

so which one works? does mst destroy bottomless before it resolves?

Heres how it resolves:

Chain Link 2: "Bottomless Trap Hole" removes the monster from play.
Chain Link 1: "Mystical Space Typhoon" destroys "Bottomless Trap Hole".

So basically, both cards get their effects.

Just to further clarify, if the chain was like this:

Chain Link 1: "Bottomless Trap Hole" activated.
Chain Link 2: "Mystical Space Typhoon" chained to "Bottomless Trap Hole".

Resolution:

1. "Mystical Space Typhoon" destroys "Bottomless Trap Hole".
2. The effect of "Bottomless Trap Hole" still resolves because the card wasn't negated, only destroyed.
