Don't under estimate the usefulness of Grave Lure in this deck either. I watched patman play it in the first tournament after he had it built with Grave Lure. It gave an additional degree of control and of course revealed a new card at the top of the deck. When the card that was choosen with Grave Lure came about...it was conviently dropped into the graveyard for Autonmous Action Unit to scoop up if it was a monster
Is also gets rid of ALL cards with that name in your opponent's hand and even better, it lets you look at your opponent's hand. With Mind Crush, nothing is a secret to you.
<nodding> True, Drop Off is more likely to be successful if you don't have Convulsions of Nature in play....but if you do then Mind Crush is a much better option.
I'm not sure how well it would fit with what you have in mind for the deck but what about Great Phantom Thief? With CoN you would already know what is in the opponent's hand so it would basically give you a way to systematically destroy their hand by letting you call what card is discarded. You just have to manage to hit their LP first.
Holy crap, this has got to be one of, if not, the most creative deck I've ever seen. Everything seems to just flow together. I can see this being very good after October 1st because it has something most deck lack, draw power. I think that to better manage Don and such however, Messenger of Peace could be a great addition. You opponent can no longer take out your Don or even Great Phantom Theif as mentioned above. The only probably I can really see that could rise is that be unable to maintain field presense, unless you've changed your monster line up since it was originally posted. Awesome work, I'm tempted to netdeck this thing right now and play it on Saturday, unfortunately for me I have to go to bed.
Where you can get yourself in a bind though is early in the match when there are no monsters in your opponent's graveyard and you haven't drawn a Convulsions of Nature and can't see their top card. This is why having a Beserk Gorrila or Spirit Reaper is important to either intimidate or just Block Attacks.
I could see running a weenie version of this deck with Don Zaloog, Spirit Reaper, Guardian Sphinx, however, you negate the effectiveness (most likely) of Autonmous Action Unit and Conscription as the opponent's monsters (that you've taken from them) often won't be able to attack under Messenger of the Peace
I like the Great Phantom Theif idea, White Magical Hat could work here as well if you're on a budget and don't have Don Zaloog.
BTW, give patman some encouragement to share some of his other decks. I KNOW you folks would enjoy this man's creativeness and see his genius as I do. <tapping chin> I might have to recruit this gentleman for some "work" around here.
