My So-So Water Deck

I edited your post to enable auto-linking. The box at the bottom of a new thread post has a checked box called "Disable Yu-Gi-Oh! Card auto-linking". It's a really handy feature, so you should uncheck that box for convenience. ;)

I'll be honest and say I doubt this will function well. IMHO, there's not enough synergy. What are you attempting to do? Do you want to abuse ALO by downgrading 5-star monsters to non-tributes and 7-star monsters to single tributes? Do you abuse ALO by allowing Gagagigo and Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness to slip under LL-AB and G-bind? Do you abuse Salvage by recycling advantageous cards such as Poison Draw Frog and Penguin Soldier to multiply your advantage?

I see some evidence of all of the above in your deck. But if it was me, I'd pick ONE of those strategies and run with it. Maybe I'm just dull, or I just suck, but I've never been a fan of hybrid decks, particularly not hybrid strategies. Just because two cards are both Water monsters doesn't mean they necessarily work together. Similarly, just because two cards are completely different types of monsters doesn't mean they DON'T work together.

Ummm...for startes, there is no gagaigo or Sea Serpent Warrior of Darkness in this deck. ALO is just there to downgrade and boost the hydrogedons and Abyss Soldiers.

as for synergy, there is plenty of synergy. Mother Grizzly is a grat deck thinner, and is good fro Creature Swap....i give them a grizzly, hit it with a hydro and get to special summon another grizzly and special summon another hydro (due to their effects). Same deal with Poison Draw Frog...it's in there as Creature Swap/hydro fodder. abyss lets me bounce troublesome cards, and with ALO out, it's a nice lil beatstick that slips under level limit.

Salvage lets me reuse and abuse the abyss/Creature Swap fodder...plus i have a Pot of Avarice (not added in the deck list, but it is in the deck) to put grizzly and the cards grizzly searches out back into the deck.

Tsukyomi puts troublesome cards face down so hydro can get at them if his attack is too low to take them down when they are in attack. Plus tsukyomi combo's nicely with MoF and Nightmare Penguin.

as for the side deck...Ameba is, again, Creature Swap fodder. Koitsu can be brought out with grizzly and morphed into cyber end (provided ALO isn't in play)......Snatch Steal is in the deck to grab whatever morphable monster my opponent has out (since there is enough fusions in my deck to meet most needs)

I use this deck off and on at tournaments......I do't top 8, but then again, I never expect to....it is a fun deck, and does okay...I normally finish in the top 25-30% of the tourney and thats good enough for me.

if i cared about winning, i'd run some kind of flip flap control or damm toolbox

Ahhh.... Then it's a new KIND of synergy in water decks. I applaud you. Your deck had a strategy, I just couldn't see it. It is :king:, bordering on :ninja:

I think, then, that the deck may benefit from a pair of Last Wills and a pair of Catapult Turtles. It will help you swarm to use Nightmare Penguin the most effective way possible, allow for some more abuse of ALO without really hurting the fluidity, and to boot, give you a little burn potential if your opponent locks out attack.

Actually, I do have a Catapult Turtle deck but that focuses on stalling long enough to swarm my field with beatstick vanilla water monsters.....now that i know turtles effect goes by the alo/Umiiruka modified attack and not the original attack....i need to clarify a ruling on enchanted fitting room though before i post the deck. want to find out if i can special summon level 4 water monsters that are drawn by EFR's effect provided ALO is in play....and now that Ultimate Offering has been errated, i have even more swarming.

not sure about Last Will though...i might try it out in my water weenie deck, since that has grizzlies x3, bugroths x3 and mermaids x3

>_< Indeed. ALO modifies the level of Water monsters in your deck as well as your field (and hand, graveyard, etc.)

I like it. It would be fun to see Water Dragon in here, but I'm not sure if that would mess with the strategy. Another one you might want to consider is Metallizing Parasite-Lunatite. Bring it out with the Grizzlys, and can be morphed into any 7-star fusion for some fun, and equiping to whatever isn't bad either.

I LOVE the use of Koitsu and Metamorphing into Cyber End. That is just awesome, and I'm sure quite a surprise.

I always hate suggesting this because I don't use water decks anymore (at least at this time). Have you thought of putting a Fenir or two in there. They cast but they can lock your opponent down for a turn or two. I've seen them used in other people decks that look a lot like yours and they seem to flow well.

darkmagicuser....that is not a bad idea....i was thinking about the parasite in a machine/water hybrid...bring it out via grizzly and union it to Jinzo lol. Water Dragon is a nice card, but it is hell to get out and keep out. Hydrogedon works better by itself or in a dino deck

Sirch, Fenrir needs to be in a deck dedicated to the Fenrir lock, and even though it is a great lock, it doesn't fit this deck but I will play test it and see
