well, howdy all, this is my first post.
As for collector tins, while i use them, i don't go and buy them. unless they are NON-reprints. doesn't matter what it looks like, a reprint is a reprint, and makes the value of the original take a nosedive. but i do
see their point in some of the reprints. like card errata.
While I certainly respect your opinion on "Collecting versus Reprints", they (meaning "Reprints") arent necessarily made with the collector in mind.
Reprints are created for the player who has lost the competitive edge by either joining the game late, or, not being able to obtain cards through monetary means, which directly affects the ability to trade up for better cards.
No player should be left out of the game just because they dont have deep pockets, nor should they be disadvantaged because they can't trade for anything better.
There is no way a Common Breaker the Magical Warrior should have the same cost or trade value as the original. That would be insane. Competition is the mark of a true champion, who isnt afraid to take on someone with a superior Deck, or one of equal strength, but to totally be locked out by having access to only cards that are no better than a Joey Starter Deck, isnt competitive, and no one should take pleasure in defeating said Deck.
For everyone who is whimpering about the Cyber Dragon Tin, I hear no whimpers about the Elemental Hero Neo Tin, and how it is going to release ALL THOSE NEOS to a bunch of "noobs". Good cards should be accessible.
D.D. Assailant was only a 15-20 Dollar card at best when it came out in the Gameboy. How it ended up selling for more than the game on ebay was CRAZY!!! "Worth" is artificially inflating our cards as it is. Is Des Volstgalph really worth a few thousand, even as a Shonen Jump Prize?? I never saw a card disappear so fast from ebay auctions, and it shouldn't even be anywhere near a Holo when it gets reprinted.
Reprints are what keeps this game from being fun for only the Elite few who can afford to play.
