Am I the only one who alphabetizes his cards and separates them by Spell, Trap, Monster (Effect, Normal, Ritual, Fusion)? Everytime people look through my cards I have to remind them not to mess with the order and then they tell me that it must have taken me a long time. (?!) Am I really that anal retentive compared to everyone else?

Well dont worry Dj Im gonna be getting there soon. I have my stuff organised like this......

spells - sub catagories normal, quickplay, continuous, equip
traps - sub catagories normal continous counter
monsters - sub catagories dragon pyro fish etc each sub divided into normal and effect monsters. The next step is alphabetising them. Its so much easier when they are in small groups like that. I should do it soon.

I thought about going into to subclasses, but for Y-Gi, I decided it was better for me to keep them sorted by name and card type. Now my VS cards on the other hand, are sorted alphabetically by affiliation. So Anti-Matter comes first sorted by characters, equipments, plot twists, and locations, then after that Arkham Inmates and so on and so forth till we go through all the affiliations and I have the generic plot twists, equips etc sorted at the end. Some people like to sort their characters by drop, but that makes no sense to me, as I would have to know the drop to every single character in the game to be able to find one, when I can just go to their name and look there.

EDIT: Oh yeah. I printed little dividers for each affiliation and for card types in Yu-Gi too. :haveaday_

thats a bit better than me having mine all held together in little groups with elastic band sna dthen thrown in a first aid kit box.

Oh, I need to post pictures. Mine are so anal you'll think you're a slob. Numerical order by set. Custom dividers. 2x each card in special drawers, ordered by release, 1x each card in little special binders on their own shelf, extra rares and commons in card boxes, by set, stacked in order of release.

A series of cut up index cards serve as "missing" for the drawers in case I pull some out for use in a deck. Marked appropriately with the code and edition of the missing card.

Extra foils and non-booster commons, however, are in a standard 3 ring binder, organized by type (normal/effect/fusion/ritual/spell/trap) and then aplhabetically.

And a Dark Magician toy to protect them all from evil doers.

Wow! DJP, just wow!

Mine just got a face-lift because my wife hated the white 3-ring binders I used to have them in. I'm now using Photography binders (so they look nicer on the bookshelf). 9 pocket sleeves sorted alphabetically by Effect Monsters, Effect Ritual Monsters, Effect Fusion Monsters, Normal Monsters, Normal Ritual Monsters, Normal Fusion Monsters, Spells, and Traps. There are 3 or 4 copies of each card in the pocket for that card (except for the 271 cards I'm still trying to get the 2nd and/or third copies of to complete my collection thus far). The extras are in card storage boxes with the same sorting (my sons, nephews and a few friends use the cards in the storage boxes when they are looking for cards they haven't got enough of, and I build a lot of fun decks for them out of these as well).

My 19 year old son sorts them just like Emerald Dragon (well by all the types and categories, but in binders).

OK. After we're done watching TV and find some new AAs for the camera I'll post some pics fer y'all :D

Oh goodie, pics of a collection from a first rate sorting fanatic. Now I can prove to my wife that I'm not that bad! :)

NOPE! You're not the only one. I have all of mine organized by set first, then spell, trap, and monster, each subset alphabetized.

All of my rares & better are in binders and organized by spell, trap, and moster type.

All commons are in 3-5 column boxes...except for the ones I have laying out on my office desk to remind me to put them in a deck or build a deck around.

Personally, I find it MUCH easier to find what I need when they're alphabetized than sorted by number. I can almost always remember a name of a card, seldom the number.

Remember, you asked. Warning: large pictures, about 400-500KB each.

First up, we have "The Shelf". The shelf has binders that hold 1 of EVERY CARD in the game, except for a precious few, up top. Accessories live on level 3, and boxes and boxes of commons and rares live on the ground floor. Dark Magician watches over the shelf.

Top shelf, binder 1 has LOB-MRL, 2 has PSV-LOD, 3 has PGD-DCR, 4 has IOC-RDS, 5 has FET-EOJ, 6 has DB1, 7 has DB2, 8 has DR1, 9 has DR2.

Second shelf, binder 1 has all starter decks SDY-YSD, 2 has all structure decks SD1-SD7, 3 has Duelist Packs DP1-DP2, 4 has all promos and TP cards, 5 is empty.

To the right of the second shelf lives "The binder". More on that later.

Next along our tour we find "The drawer". Here's where all the playable cards live. No more than 2x of every card in here, and other than about 3 EOJs and 10 DR2s, that's exactly what IS in there.

Drawer 1 = DB1/DB2/DR1 (easy access from desk).
Drawer 2 = LOB/MRD/MRL/PSV/LON/LOD.
Drawer 3 = PGD/MFC/DCR/IOC/AST/SOD/RDS.
Drawer 4 = FET/TLM/CRV/EEN/SOI/EOJ/DP1/DP2/DR2.
Drawer 5 = SDY/SDK/SDJ/SDP/SYE/SKE/YSD/SD1/SD2/SD3/SD4/SD5/SD6/SD7.
Drawer 6 = empty.

And here we'll take a look at one of the drawers themselves (This is drawer 3), what the inside of one of the "Shelf" binders looks like, and most importantly my uber-nerdy custom made spy case that handily holds 3 decks, an altoids box full of tokens, dice, coins, and of course 2 calculators for the math impaired.

And we'll conclude our tour with just a random page from the foil binder. Please remember to take what you brought with you and place your trays back into the upright position. Thank for flying uber-dork airlines.

PS - I *am* married. She deals with this stuff in her own way. Generally by pretending it's not here! LOL :D

Okay, djp is my hero. All of the time. That was amazing.

I kinda have a system... sort of. Heh.

I have my binder, which is organized by rarity, and in the rarities, by favorites or series. (Example: The two promo Envoys are next to each other, etc.) Then I have tins upon tins upon boxes of commons. There are three tins that are filled with "useful" cards. One is for monsters, and the other two... well, it's obvious. That's about it though. It's organized chaos.

You're a sick, twisted, and obsessed man djp....and I LOVE it! <laffin> Finally, someone who has as many cards as I do has come out of the closet....and organized the closet.

I want to know where you got theose drawers.

Bed, Bath and Beyond.

The dividers are just sliced up Elmer's project board from Staples, and the masking tape is, well ... masking tape :D

The silica gel packs are because my basement is unfinished and tends to be a little moist. In general, I wouldn't recommend using it since it's not the best thing for cards. Definately don't ever seal cards in with silica gel * -- make sure it's got at least a little airflow.

(* Reason being is that it will over-dry them and when they are exposed to normal humidity again they'll soak it up like a sponge)

Yeah stay away from that beyond area. We dont have those places here in ireland but i saw what happened in family guy. That place is weird.

I want your collection. So organised..........
