I'd be very curious to travel abroad and see what other countries have that the US does too. I've been to a few "Irish Pubs" in the States, but, meh, who knows how Americanized they are. What other country do you know of that makes Taco Style Pizzas or "Italian" Subs (with Jalapenos)? :dj_eek Americans knowledge of Ireland extends about as far as the Lucky Charms guy and Darby O'Gill and the Little People. Oh, and that killer midget in the Leprechaun movies. In other words, we're clueless.

But I digress. I think the rest of the world knows how ignorant we are without my help.:dur_jedi: But yes, I try to stay out of Bed, Bath and Beyond as much as possible. My wife gets intrigued by too many of their useless items. Just how many geometric shapes does a vibrating massager need to take? And I don't think a couple ball bearings with Asian lettering on them is fooling anyone. You don't know how thankful I was they closed down Linens n' Things. :D

Bur again I digress. I'll have to try check the place out. I need a way to discourage shenanigans when my friends start looking through the collection. And I need some place to get the toys out of my daughter's bedroom.

thats alot of cards i have no were near that amount i have about 4 and a half tins full and a folder about 3/4 full!!!

<sigh /> I always hate seeing those visions of grandeur and realizing I have a LONG way to go. Thanks for inspiring me djp, I'll do better next time.

We're currently using the 5 inch D-Ring binder style and have 5 of them nearly filled. Its more along the dueling lines for what we need with our decks. Binder 1 contains special sets, like Exodia, King/Queen/Jacks's Knight, the Movie Promos, Archfiends, Amazonesses, E-Heros, etc. Binder 2 contains spells, organized by type, Binder 3 contains Traps, organized by type, Binders 4 and 5 are monster types grouped together.

I used to organize them alphabetically and then by star level, but it got too hard to maintain when a new set came in and I had to shift everything around. Plus the Mrs. was a little wierd about it.

I then tried to organize by set name/number so you could do an easy find in comparison with Deck Studio / RONIN when looking for a card. The Mrs. thought THAT was WAY TOO anal too 8^D

Oh, and then there are some misc boxes and tins that have duplicates (we keep about 5 of every card since we share them with my, my wife, and my brother in law) to house our extras and there are a few other boxes with cards that need to make it into the binder.

I'll be getting some of those drawers soon, that looks perfect for our needs with the extras. Plus I can hide some of my Pirates of the Spanish Main and VS cards in there too 8^D

One thing i don't get you all have so many cards, why? whats the point of having so many cards?

I have an excess of commons, most of which are from the newest sets. Prior to CRV I had sorted out my cards by type and subtypes, splitting them into Monster, Magic, and Traps.

The Monster cards were split into 4 different types: Normal, Effect, Ritual and Fusion. The first two types were further categorized into the 6 monster attributes. The Magic and Trap cards were categorized into 6 and 3 different types respectively.

All of these cards go into whatever box I can find: a shoebox, and various set boxes. Ever since I began judging since September 2005, I've been acquiring set boxes and have simply kept the set cards in their respective boxes-unsorted.

For tournaments, I carry a 800-card card box with all my playable cards for potential decks I may decide to build. My main and fusion decks go in a Jinzo Tin, along with my set of dice, Scapegoat tokens and mini calculator.

As for trableable cards, I have them in a scruffy old binder that also has most of my Rescue Cat collection.

Well, for one thing, it's hard to be a collector with no cards at all. ;)

what i meant by my last post was it must be very difficult to choose what cards to put into a deck.
i didn't realy think my last post through because i'm half a sleep if it seemed like i was moaning sorry, didn't mean for it to sound like that!!!

For me having a decent collection makes it easier to put cards in a deck. I prefer being able to look through what I have and find what I need, then letting the collection decide that for me. Know what I mean? A larger collection means you can choose based on what's best for your deck to put in, whereas very few cards limits what your putting in, to what you can get your hands on.

well having a smaller collection does challange you to work with what you got and prove that you can win with it which does make you a better duelist in some areas and people who have smaller collections like myself aren't bothered by collecting cards but are more interseted in getting the cards that is required by there decks and are willing to trade off what is required to do so but then agian thats people like me!!!

I have heard horror stories about ring-ed binders and how they, over time, would cause small dents in the collectable they are storing. Even with the pages stacked closely together, time and gravity will pull the pages down and may rest against the rings. However, I also heard that the way around this is to rotate the binders 90° (inward to the shelf) so the rings are at the "top". This allows the pages to hang on the rings, and prevents them from getting those dents over time.

I store most of my stuff in card boxes; sorted monster/spell/trap (YGO) alphabetically and teams/type/costs (VS). Each category is seperated by a card in a sleeve; since a sleeved card is slightly larger, still fits in the row, and is visually easily identified.
The ringless binders store the cards I like to look at, and deck boxes keep the decks portable and sorted.

The deck boxes also store the assorted pirate ships and race cars; though not many fit inside the box...

Collector tins store the "smaller" sets: Shaman King, UFS, Zatchbell, etc...and are identified by a post-it for the tins that don't have the little clear windows.

I like the baseball card binders with the slightly oversized rings. Some of those come with square rings, but their a pain in the butt. They also come with these, hmm, not sure what you call them. They're plastic guards that go in the rings like two big pages. You put the one in the front and one in the back and your card sleeves will never fold in because the guards are made of hard plastic.

D Ring Binders and thosee with the little plastic guard are wonderful for preventing those dents to happen in card. Not to mention keeping them from getting overstuffed. We upgraded to those D-Rings and have been quite happy.

And why have so many cards? Probably for the deck building aspect. I mean whoda thunk that The Cheerful Coffin would EVER see play until Dark World came out 8^D I'm happy to have 4 of them so that I can build Dark World as well as my wife or brother-in-law and share the wealth. 8^D
