As many of you know, I've been out of the game for a pretty good while. What are the current mainstream decks out there today, just so I know?

Well their alot of decks that are coming back to the game and really what it comes down to is that make a deck that you like running and run with it.

Dark world does seem to be coming more popular recently and new decks does seem to becoming popular like the six samurai decks and gadget decks!!!

monarch variants, demise/doomdozer/advanced ritual art, diamond dude turbo, bazoo/card trooper, six samurai/warrior, gagdet/machine, cyberdark, burn, darkworld
not necissarily in that order........but those probably cover 75 or 80 percent of what our local & regionals seem to run....

It's a 2 Fold Deck strategy.

1) Hit Normal Spells off of Diamond Dude's effect. With lots of Lightning Vortex, Destiny Draw, Magical Stone Excavation (soon to be 1), and the 1 Dimension Fusion, you get powerful effects but on the flip side, the cards can also be used normally as well so they're wasted. Other spells used tie in to point 2.

2) Swarm the field. Malicious provides field presence, esp if it's discarded off of Destiny Draw or Lightning Vortex. Reasoning and Monster Gate are used to swap your monsters and potentially get something big to the field.

The standard builds at least have DMoC, Jinzo, Diamond Dude, Dasher, Malicious, and E-Hero Stratos. Stratos can be your searcher for something else you need or work as your new Breaker (Discard a Malicious, remove to bring another to the field, summon Stratos, nuke 1 S/T in this case as a basic example). Dasher provides free special summons (esp. nice for Jinzo/DMoC). Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade is used for multiple purposes: Boosting, free discard, GY Monster Removal.

Lastly, with the monster removal you have, Dimension Fusion can bring them all back, swing for game. It's one of the deck types where Hand Management is less important than for say Monarch Decks because you have a) Great Draw power (Destiny Draw), b) Free Summons (Dasher), c) Re-useable cards (Divine Sword - Phoenix Blade), and d) the full swarm (Between Reasoning, Monster Gate, and Dimension Fusion).

There are ways to tailor it too to fit your dueling style. Personally, I prefer Strike Ninja (helps remove Jinzo/DMoC as needed) since it lets me deck some other cards that I like. 1 deck that topped used The Creator. You also find Card Trooper in a lot of them (feed the GY). It's not that Dissimilar to the OG Dasher deck where you ran a lot of Tribute Monsters with Reasoning and Monster Gate to bring them to the field. Just the addition of Stratos, Destiny Draw, and Malicious made it a lot more potent.

Now that sounds like fun. I just might have to try that out. It looks like I'll be buying a lot of Aster Phoenix packs. Thanks again!

What would you say is the easiest way to get a Magical Stone Excavation and E-Hero Stratos?

be rich. Im sorry but thats about it really. Maybe find someone with more than one and say yeah since its being limited can i have one cheap.

The more otk-ish way to run ddt, is to utilize your reasonings and monster gates...

Reasoning in open hand is amazing,
if they do not call 8 they risk DMoC hitting the field.
if they do call 6 they risk putting Malicious into your grave (which sets up for your monster gate)
and it can also bring out Troopers or diamond dude. (great mill guys)

So sometime within these reasoning and monster gates, these lil Phoenix blades are hitting the graveyard... they have this cool little effect where you can remove 2 of your warriors to bring them back to your hand... an instant pluss 1, that combos well with mage stone and card destruction.

So by turn 3 you usually mill most of your deck using your mage stones or dmoc to get back dimension fusion to make use of all of those warriors you've removed via the Phoenix blade. So with that you play dimension fusion and when stratos hits the field off of this effect his effect triggers which can effectively destroy a lot of m/ts depending on how many D heros you have on the field... which can be 4 if need be. And then drops Lightning vortex to clear out anything they removed in the turns prior. And viola you have a win... unless they had spirit reaper / gellenduo set.

Hope this helps.

Stratos isn't that hard to get. A lot of people probably have extras they wouldn't mind trading since you can only run 1.

Magical Stone Excavation will be a little harder. It was selling for about $40 when it came out, shot up to a high of $120 but lately has been coming down to about the $80 range (since the news of it's restriction came out, more people have been selling it to get what they can for it). You might be able to trade for it but it'll probably cost you something else good. Otherwise you might just have to bite the bullet to buy one (or get lucky on a pull from Champion Pack 2).

It's not a cheap deck overall either. Malicious and Destiny Draw are averaging about $30 a piece if you try to buy it. It is a lot of fun to run though so if you can get the pieces, it should be worth it.
