I agree with squad being up there. Morlocks will have to do well on draft day to make top 8. Avengers are avengers so you know theyll be there. BH has its weaknesses so I'm not so sure about it. You could see a Hellfire build using hidden. I dont think you'll see Faces, X-men, definetly not Kang. Thats the fun of it. There's no way of guessing something like the meta in a whole new format no one knows b/c they haven't seen it. Hope you playtested well!!!
 
Oh man, Atlanta was a great weekend. Got to check out top decks, passed my level 2, and got some sweet EAs. Now to finish building my deck for 10K Austin this weekend...how did everyone else do?
 
Oh, and as far as other decks go...Avengers Reservist, Brotherhood Reservist, and other decks still have a place, its just that the Squad and Faces decks were piloted by guys who had great draft days too. Squad can get wrecked if they miss their curve, and Avengers will run more Hawkeye to deal with the off-curve decks. 10K Austin is going to be where the dominant decks in the format are locked in, or maybe wherever the 10K is the weekend after Austin. The tech is going to be interesting too.

Well, on Thursday I had to win a LCQ to make the PC. I HAD TO MAKE THE PC, or I would hear it for the rest of the my life on how I couldn't even qualify for the PC. First LCQ I lost to AGL rush, 2nd LCQ I lost to X-Stall, man I was sweating bullets last chance to qualify. Third LCQ, I smashed through and beat three guys to top 4 and an invitation to the PC!

Day one of the PC was ok for me I went 6-4, I won 5 in a row to make day two.... No Pressure. Day two sucked something fierce my first draft deck was ok, but not good enough (went 1-2). My second draft deck completely sucked!!! I don't know what happened ever pack that made it my way was trash, no good plot twists or characters (went 1-2). Third draft was ok but I just couldn't pull together a decent record (went 1-2). Needless to say 2nd day was a bust for me... I ended up 119th and out of money...

Sunday, we hung out. Talked to helpolmer, black super wanted to playtest a new deck he put together. The tournament was fun, would have been great if I would have made at least 75th.
 
Oh, and I was running a standard squad deck with Insect Swarms and no other tech... I beat every Brotherhood and Avengers deck I went up against. Avengers is almost an auto-win all you need is one other earth or Insect swarm to make Rick Jones useless and you win. All you need are 2 characters on turn 5 with other earth and it's a wrap.
 
Congratulations on making day 2. That is something a lot of people never do. I was really wanting to go but had other things going on. Squad would have been my deck of choice also. It really doesn't have bad matchups other than the mirror. Then it comes down to who draws better. The deck that surprised me was X-Faces. I built one adding my own touches and love the thing. It's only bad matchup I have run into is Squad and only if they hit hard the first 3 turns.
 
BlackSuper put one together while we were down in Atlanta, I found that if squad draws "Other Earth" it pretty much spells game for X-Faces. If it draws 2 and can use it on turn 3 and 5 it definitly seals the victory.
 
I was judging LCQ's 3 and 4, so I probably saw you at some point in the day. Your name is familiar anyway. Maybe I deckchecked you or something. I was a tall heavyset (but working on it) judge with glasses, ponytail, and goatee. I'm trying to "fix" Faces to be able to survive against Other Earth. I have some ideas, but I'm not going to be able to get in as much testing as I'd like. I'm still going to bring a Squad deck, just in case, although I don't have the Other Earths for it, but I can trade for them when I get there. Austin is going to a fun weekend, I'm hoping to sell off some of my EAs and make back the money I spent getting to Atlanta, as well as getting a jumpstart on the PC San Francisco travel fund.
 
I don't remember if I saw you, but you probably did see me play in either LCQ 3 or 4. My last match was against a rather short black kid with glasses and braids that was friends with Roy St. Clair (who was making all types of motions while his friend was playing, very annoying). I was wearing my old NY Yankees baseball cap, I don't remember what else I was wearing though if anything at all..... Oh I was playing Titans.....
