Phoenix?

I'm testing new themes because of the new list and I'm think of a Legendary Flaming Chicken called a Phoenix a friend at my Not-So-Local Duelist League told me it is a descent deck. How does it work?

There are several ways you can incorporate Sacred Phoenix into your deck. You can build an Apprentice Swap deck where you swap things like Apprentice Magician and searchers to control the field and get your monsters out quicker, and thereby getting Phoenix quicker. Ritual decks (Demise, ideally) work also. You can nuke the field with his effect while Phoenix face-up and Phoenix comes back next turn. You could incorporate it into a Specllaster, Zombie, Warrior, etc. deck simply because all you need is either A.) 2 monsters to sac for it, or B.) a Hand of Nephthys and another monster to Special it from your hand or Deck (optimal). Try out:
2x Apprentice Magician
1x Hand of Nephthys
1x Magician of Faith
1x Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys in your favorite builds and see how it works out for you.

I should also mention chainable S/T will be your best bet since Phoenix will destroy your own too when it comes back. For this reason, Treeborn Frog is almost a must.

You might also consider cards that will give you other options to do with Phoenix. May I suggest:
Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai
Metamorphosis (into Cyber-Twin Dragon, Gatling Dragon, etc.)

I don't know what you've been reading, but that wouldn't work. Ritual Summons Tribute the monsters, not destroy them. Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys needs to be destroyed by a card effect in order to Reborn.

Same goes for Spiritual Fire Art - Kurenai, Mystik Wok, Metamorphosis, Destiny Hero - Dasher and Gaia Soul the Combustible Collective (also, Phoenix is a Winged Beast, not a Pyro, so it REALLY wouldn't work with Gaia Soul).

Good Idea, will the Hand of Nephthys work with Scapegoat?
The Phoenix's effect wouldn't activate unless it's destroyed by a card effect.

I like to use merauding captin with the hand of nephytis to bring out the phoenix its a lot faster

You do realize that you don't need two monsters in addition to Hand of Nephthys to bring out Phoenix. You only need Hand of Nepthys and 1 other monster.

don't know what you've been reading, but that wouldn't work. Ritual Summons Tribute the monsters, not destroy them. Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys needs to be destroyed by a card effect in order to Reborn.
I use SPoN in my Demise deck and you can do two things with it.

#1: use SPoN for Demise ritual tribute summon. Yeah it won't come back, but it's better then using 2 lv4 monsters. It's good when you lack cards in your hand/field. It's not that bad of a thing to use SPoN as a tribute since then you can Premature/CotH the chicken back.

#2: This is the "better" combo. You summon Demise while you still have SPoN (You used other monsters to ritual summon) Then yeah, nuke the field and then next turn, Phoenix will come back with activating Heavy Storm effect. It's insanely annoying to your foe. (Unless they set Torrential/BTH)

How so....Hand of Nephthys is Spellcaster.

Marauding Captain brings out any four star or lower monster with it's special summon FYI. So yes his combo of Summoning Marauding Captain, Special summoning Hand of Nephthys, and then special summoning Sacred Phoenix will work just an expensive way to get out a 2400 attacker IMHO.

On a side note: My buddy loves Marauding Captains and Rare Metal Dragons Yikes another one turn way to a 2400 attacker.
Made extremely plausible when they made Marauding's unlimited lol wow just throw 3 rare metals in any warrior deck and you nolonger need a tribute monster. Not that you do in the first place with swarm. anyway back to point.

But, Phoenix is a nuissance to those having to deal with it. the Limitation put on it on the Forbidden list is the main reason people don't run it much anymore.

Indeed it is a fun card though happy playing everyone.

May you all think of solutions before your opponents and slightly after me of course. :)
