ok so
my opp. has 1 face up Besrek Gorilla on the field, while i have 1 Pole Postion.

I send pole position to the graveyard to Special Summon Anteatereatingant (which atck is 2000 also)

Which of these will happen:
1)Both monsters will die due to pole position
2)gorilla will die
3)nothing happens, due to missed timing

this sure is a pickle

not really.-

The second effect of "Pole Position" does not begin a chain. When "Pole Position" is removed from the field, the effect is applied immediately and the monster is destroyed.

thanks for the quick answer, i knew i shoulda checked the errata. didnt think they would have the answer (snice it is a lil complicated)

can you be more specific in terms of what EXACTLY will happen?
Because it seems to me that Anteatereatingant hits the field at the same time Pole Position is removed from the field.

...you send 2 S/T from ur side of the field (one of them "Pole Position") this Triggers "Pole Position" effect and "Bersek Gorilla" is destroyed then "Anteatereatingant" is summoned into the field.

This looks wrong IMO. Pole Position can't activate in the middle of Anteatereatingant's Summon Condition being resolved.

When Anteatereatingant is summoned Pole Position is then applied on the field. So both monsters would be destroyed in this case.

Actually, sending is the cost to activate Ant's special summoning ability. Pole Position would then chain to the Ant's activation. Anyone ele can add to that chain if they wish before Ant is SSed. Then resolve backwards, Pole, then Ant. Now that Ant has hit the field, TP can use priority to fire off Ant's Special ability adn kill a S/T if need be.

I would tend to agree with Lord Hades explanation.

The destruction part of "Pole Position" is a Continuous Effect that doesn't use the chain.

There's no arguing with that statement....lol.

Skey, he said that sending the two Spell/Trap cards for Ant would "Trigger" the effect of Pole Position. I already know that Pole Position's second effect doesn't use the chain. It's applied after Ant is summoned.

Ok, you obviously didn't understand what I said then....

The monster is destroyed IMMEDIATELY. Not AFTER "Anteater" hits the field. As soon as "Pole Position" leaves the field, the monster goes *boom*....

Oh...and btw....

Enjoy!....;)

And for an easier way to think about it using a card most everyone's played with, replace "Pole Position" with "Call of the Haunted" (where as soon as Call leaves the field the monster it targets is destroyed too).

Apparently I've been having trouble understanding even some of the most basic things in this game lately. What's annoying me the most about it is that I don't know why. =/

Low Blood Sugar? Lack of sleep? Maybe it's Elves. That's what I blame everything on. ;) :p

<rings in to answer the question>

What is 'Lack of Sugar', Alex?

<drinks his Pepsi and munches on his crackers>

Sleep isn't an issue. I've went to events and judged off of five hours of sleep and preformed excellently. Sleep has never been an issue for me in making rulings. I think the real reason is me just being sloppy in not paying attention to detail and at what's actually being said. <shrugs>

It happens. I'll live.
