I dont have any specs on my screen right now (at school) but is there a certain cable that could be used to hook up my PS2 to a LCD screen?

I dont feel like buying a TV tuner since im getting mixed reviews.

or if there are any other ways to just play my PS2, without my computer having to be on, by using the LCD screen, that would be great!

If you have the COMPONENT out cables for the PS/2, you can use a Component->VGA converter. Or, if your LCD has DVI, a Component->DVI converter.

(You should have red, green, and blue RCA jacks coming from the unit, at least if you're using the Sony branded cables. Mine also has the standard Red/White for the audio signal)

You can Google "Component to VGA" or "Component to DVI" and see all kinds of places to start looking.

OK. Im not great with..technical jargon....but i looked up some stuff and figured out that DVI means it could do analog or digital. My screen can do that.

could a VGA hookup work for a DVI? or no?

Well, it depends on what kind of connectors you have on the LCD. DVI and VGA are very similar, but they have completely different connectors. VGA is small, has 15 holes, and is usually blue in color. DVI is ... complex looking with lots of holes :)

One thing I'm dead certain of is that VGA and DVI can be converted to/from each other. For example, my video card only has a DVI output, and my monitor only has a VGA input. No worries, since it came with a little DVI->VGA adapter that plugs right into the video card!

Can you post the make/model of your LCD? I can look it up online...

You've got both VGA and DVI:

Now the trick is finding a component -> VGA (or DVI) converter. Make sure you really have component out on the PS/2, I'd hate to see you blow $$ on a converter and then have to special order $30.00 cables to go with it.

edit: Be careful, don't just spend money randomly, you usually can't return this kind of stuff. It *might* be worth a trip to Best Buy, and have a tech help you out. Write down all the things he wants you to buy and then check online :D zipzoomfly.com usually has some good deals on this kind of stuff.
