Reload IOC-045

Reload
Quick-Play Spell

Add your hand to your Deck and shuffle it. Then draw the same number of cards that you added to your Deck.

An alternative to "Card Destruction" for when you don't want to lose the cards in your hand, but you want another crack at trying to get the card you're looking for. It's also useful for when your opponent knows your hand and you want to change over what you have. The artwork is rather sweet as well.

Short review as it's purpose is pretty straight forward. Fairly useful in most decks early on when you have a fair number of cards in your hand, but not the one you need.

i found that my harpy deck can utilize this card very well when needed. you know, cause Harpie Lady Sisters, triangle ecstacy spark, and Elegant Egotist can be dead draws sometimes, so Reload really helps out there. my zombie deck that uses Fushioh Richie and Great Dezard benefits from it as well.

i think that any deck that runs nomi monsters as their main focus should use this card, since it can help out a lot. of course, it can help out any deck really.

Rating:
3/5 Its sometimes a better alternative than Card Destruction
Art: 3/5

I heavily tested this when playing with a friend using the Dragon's Roar and Zombie Madness Structure Decks as they were, just for the feeling of it, of course (despite what is written on the hint sheet I would not go to a tournament with these as they originally are, OMG!).

Reload often came in quite handy there, with a REDD on hand while REBD removed from play, or only spell cards on the hand while a monster for defense needed.

Ok, enough of my experiences. Reload doesn't fit into every deck. For example when playing a "standard" deck with 18 or so monsters, most of which can be easily summoned, this card is superfluous.

In deck types that require certain card combinations or contain cards that can't be summoned all the time, it will be more useful.
Examples would be Ritual Decks, Fusion Decks (Paladin, later probably BEUD), and maybe ones using 2 or 3 Dark Necrofear (imagine having her on your starting hand twice...). Or anything else that uses 2-tribute-summons, maybe high-level spirit monster or normal monster decks (when using several copies of high-level monsters).

Putting it in a BLS-deck on the other hand is a stupidity, you don't always draw him, and getting one DARK and one LIGHT monster into graveyard when you have him on your hand at, let's say, the beginning of the duel is not so difficult at all, just wait 2 turns :) .

No need to worry about whether you need it or not: when you are constructing decks as special as to benefit greatly from Reload, you'll also be experienced enough as to know it.

Its only recently that Ive begun experimenting with Reload (though, just before structures were released). Ive found that despite many negative comments Ive heard about their usefulness, Ive found them to be excellent.

rarely has a single card opened up so much opportunity for getting to a key card that starts your strategy going, as does Reload. (there are exceptions: Cyber Jar, Pot of Greed, etc) My ability to try bizarre decks that rely on more specific conditions has increased dramatically.

But, then again, those decks are more along the lines of the OTKO decks that have Reload decked commonly.

just thought id say this:

Squid is awesome because he likes penguins. Penguins are the best animals ever and deserve to be worshipped... (i love penguins... (and angelina jolie, but thats another story))

Umm..thanks. *turns to look at the tiny blue feathers on posterior* I guess I am kind of cute:p

want a sick combo for reload, try using it in an exodia deck (loads of normal monsters of course) with heart of the underdog

best so far was turning a 9 card hand into 18 (1 piece to 3)

Reloads don't belong in very deck. When you use a Reload you end up with one less card then you started out with. They belong in decks with cards like Nimble Momonga, Hyena and the like. They belong in Lvl Up! decks. They belong in speed decks that need specific cards ASAP to win. They belong in anydeck that needs specific cards in the deck.

They don't belong in random decks like gravekeeper, beatdown, warrior, dragon, zombie, fiend (unless your running Giant Germs) etc. Because when you use Reload you end up with 1 less card then you started out with.

The best way to overcome the card loss problem is that if you don't need to Reload right away set Reload. see if your opponent will use MST or Heavy Storm on it during their next turn. If they do, activate it in response, they just wasted a mst/heavy stom :D

In some decks Reload is horrible, in others Reload is the glue that makes the deck work.

I give Reload a 7.5 out of ten
