Are you all forgetting that after you declare the attack and ask the opponent if they want to respond (Sakuretsu Armor etc..).

if they don't reespond they lose the timming to stop the attack.

You then select which monster you are going to attack with and which monster/life points you are going to attack. Ask opponent if they want to respond (trap/spell to change atk/def numbers, ie Waboku)

You're close there, however, when you declare an attack you choose the attack target, not after the opponent responds or chooses not to respond.

atk/def values can always bechanged in the damage step with Rush Recklessly, Shrink, etc.

Then you more to damage step. I am a newb so no head chopping please :)
No chopping needed, but we do need to do some small correcting here. When you declare an attack, you choose the attack target then and there. Not after your opponent decides to respond.

Battle Step:
    1. Sub-step 1: Turn player has the priority to activate Spell Speed 2 here. (Example: Turn player can activate CotH here).
    2. Sub-step 2: Decide if conducting battle. If you are NOT conducting battle, got to End Step immediately.
    3. Sub-step 3: Select and announce 1 monster to attack with, and declare 1 of your opponent's monsters your target (the monster you wish to attack).
      • Turn player has the priority to respond with Spell Speed 2 here
Ok! I was going by the battle phase article. Thought you had to say;

Entering battle phase
...
declaring attack
...
this monster attacks that monster

And, actually, going by discussions here, you would say:

"Entering Battle Phase and attacking that with this"
... (do you have a response).

Since the Turn Player has Priority, the non-Turn Player cannot respond to the entrance into the Battle Phase before the Turn Player can "do" something (activate a Spell Speed 2+ effect, attack, whatever). Therefore, if the non-Turn Player wishes to activate, say, "Threatening Roar" to stop all attacks, he would have to do it at the end of the Main Phase 1. Therefore, it would behoove the Turn Player to say..."Leaving Main Phase 1, do you have anything before the window closes?" and not mention whether he is going to his Battle Phase next, or End Phase.

Wait. Battle Phase has Start Step and opponent can activate Threatening Roar in this sub-phase, shuting all attacks. It's a preparation sub-phase, inside BP.
In fact, and someone correct if I'm wrong, I believe that once Battle Step is entered, 1st thing would be the declaration of an attack (a mechanic similar to drawing a card at the start of Draw Phase). Of course it's just a possibility and my personal oppinion. I searched the forum trying to find some suport to this theory or something contradicting it, but I couldn't find anything.
I would like to read some oppinions about this...
Thanks.

That would be the "safest" way to activate Threatening Roar, but not the only way to pull it off.

If you allow your opponent to enter the Battle Phase, as long as they do NOT declare a attack with a monster, you can still activate Threatening Roar, if for example, all they do is activate Call of the Haunted to try to Special Summon "Jinzo" before they decide to attack, thinking that you might have Mirror Force face-down.

Plus, if you do activate it after a attack declaration, Threatening Roar will still stop all other eligible monsters from attacking, so even though the first attack goes through, monsters like Chimeratech Overdragon, Asura Priest, Ultimate Tyranno, will only get that "one" attack, and any other Monsters will be unable to attack at all after the first monster's attack resolves.

This could be something that the non-turn player plans for. Maybe they have a Sangan, and they want it destroyed just to search out a Cyber Phoenix or something.
