Wii Revolution News!!!

In an enviornment where consoles are all going to be fundamentally the same, then a poorly chosen name can make a significant difference in its sales.

what do mean poorly chosen name.
theres nothing wrong with the name nintendo wii it's cool.
it's more creative than playstation 3 or x.box 360.

the ps3 and the wii may fundamentaly be the same but there very different.

anther thing is that the ps3 might not sale very well with price tag off 420 quid.
thats just the console what about games they rumoured to be between 40 and 50 quid.
where as the wii is rumoured to cost 200 to 250 quid for the console and 35 to 45 for the games.
it'll be a close compotition.
but i just can't see alot off people being able to afford the ps3
when it's launched.
 
Yet, look at the way people usually talk when deciding to buy a console or not. The systems are not all that different form each other in functionality. Most of the differences are in the interface. They seldom buy a console based on the games it brings, unless there a hardcore fan of a particular game. But it seems now most games are crossing consoles. Almost always it depends on what the person likes. I doubt PS3 will be any pricier then the other two. So when your looking at such a close call on all the products, what consumers will buy will boil down some very superficial factors. Like what matches your TV, which one has the cooler design, and which one has the better name or brand. People will still buy based on their personal preferences of course, but the fact that they rumored the name was Revolution and went from there to a name like Wii (Weeeeee!), then your loosing those superficial factors that people will use in the buying process. Most people don't like the name Wii over Revolution. Whether a few do like the name is not the point. Whether it will hurt sales in a small, yet significant way, is.
 
the ps3 is going to cost 420 pound i know this for a fact as i can go in to my local gamestation and preorder on for the cost of 10 pound.

as for games the ps3 doesn't see mto be doing anything new where as the nintendo wii is using an entirerly new system whichs looks like a lot of fun to use.

especially in first person shooting were if your holding a knife you
can choose exactly were to stab them.also the fact you can download old nintendo,sega and hudson games will make the wii
more apealing aswell.
the wii will be a great console.

just a side note ther will be are ment to be 2 differnet ps3's being launched a 60 gb version that will cost around 420 pound or 20 gb which should retail for about 339 pound.
but the 20 gb ps3 might not be launched in the u.k
so if live in japan,america or europe your fine if you live in the uk
well it looks like the ps3 will be an expensive christmasd present.

That's what I'm suggesting. That's its all very relative. I can only speak from the perspective of US consumers, but on this end, game consols that are not too disimilar will always be selected over very superficial reasons.
 
i think the name wii is odd but clever....

i mean look at all the free publicity they are getting... just by people talking about the name... even on THIS VERY SITE...

then people go to their site... curiously , and end up liking it.... (except for sony and microsoft fanboys)

personally i cant wait till im done with school, i can go back to my room, wip out my wii and play with my wii all night long.

then i can invite my friends over and we can take turns playing with my wii, or play with my wii together.

I would be the coolest guy around with my awesome Wii with its sleek, smooth, design, and great playability.

and also how about that WiiMote (the controller name)
its awesome, it has a speaker in the remote... now tell me what game could utelize this the most...... thats right! jedi games... star wars and whatnot.... lightsabers anyone?

all in all the name Revolution is cool and all but Wii adds something new... originality and fun. Nintendo knows what theyre doing..... theyre turning it into what it should be... a GAME SYSTEM. not a frickin computer.

i cant wait to get my hands on my Wii (sorry last one)
ill set it up next to my Xbox360 with a satisfied grin, turn it on and say Wii!!!!!

i have great news for those of you that are interested in buy the wii apparently it will cost just over 100 pound not sure how much over.

but you should head video.google.com
and type in wii at e3 to watch all the cool wii games like mario galaxy,sonic and the legend of zelda.
 
thats alright then all we need now is a good set of games ready for its launch!!!
