Rising Energy
Discard 1 card from your hand. Increase the ATK of 1 face-up monster on the field by 1500 points until the End Phase of this turn.
A somewhat overlooked card, especially with the rise in play of Rush Recklessly.
But what use is it? Why play this compared to an equip?
1. Virtually unplayed card- most players will not be expecting it. Every time I have played it, the opponent wants to read it... They might possibly be expecting Rush Recklessly with a 700 attack boost, but not a 1500 boost.
2. It can be activated in the damage step- so you dont have to activate it unless you already know that you won't be hit by sakaretsu armor etc.
3. Only lasts a turn, so if you play it on a spirit monster you dont feel that you are wasting cards, as you might with an axe of despair.
4. Lasts the whole turn- so if you have multiple attacks you can really get the benefit of it. e.g. Asura Priest
5. If your opponent attacks a little monster, you can give it fangs. BIG fangs. A nimble momonga with this card is capable of taking out anything 2500 attack or less, including Jinzo, Mobius etc. Similar tactics to mirror wall with effect monsters with small attacks e.g. Don Zaloog, white magical hat, masked sorcerer etc.
6. You have to discard a card as an activation cost, but then 1500 attack boost might be worth it. Some decks even like the discard cost; and there is always the whole dump/revive thing.
7. Kills spirit reapers. Expensive to do so, but again, it might be worth it.
8. Works well with direct attackers. Most direct attackers dont do much damage. With this, they might see several hundred more percent damage. Personally, I am particularly fond of using this with Inaba White Rabbit. A 2200 attack bunny is not to be sneered at.
Is this card for everyone? No. The discard is expensive, and not everyone will think the advantage worthwhile.
However, for some of the more 'qwirky' decks out there, especially those based on lower attack monsters might find it the card they are looking for.
