Silent Swordsman Lv 7
Warrior/Effect
Level 7
Light
ATK/2800 DEF/1000
Card: DM2-JP001
Found In: Gameboy Advance Worldwide Edition 2
Description: This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of "Silent swordman LV5". When this monster is face up on the field, negates effects of all spell cards.

what to say about these cards, oh yes their similarity to Horus the Black Flamed dragon type of effect.

the first one, is un affected by opponent targeted spell effects.
the second is just like the lv 6 of horus were its un affected by any spell cards.

only this one makes it pumpable. becuase its only opponent, which makes ita bit better than horus lv 6 because you can add 1 axe on it and attack for 3300, or you can use other spell cards on it.

preaty good for a swordsman of that calibur.

now the similarity within the big popas.

horus 8 and swordman 7

horus being a spell speed 2 leaves you the choice weather you want to negate the spell effect or not. its also a 3000atker.

which quite frankly is good, But leads to alot of situational dealies. because since the effect is speed 2 and only activates 1 time its kinda like Sorcerer of Dark magic.

Now the lv. 7 yea its 200 atk weaker and yea all 3 of them have very horrible defense but not to harsh considering their not gonna get beat by smashing grounds that often. the Lv 7 leads to all opponent spell cards are negated.

right off the bat, anything opponent wants to play is negated, BUT it doesnt stop the activation of the spell card.

which leads to jinzo having a amplifier with no problem. but still once you have this, vs jinzo with an amp all you can do is go for that long shot, but still who runs jinzo with amplifier?

not many if people actually do run this.

Over all one of the best things is that Its a Light monster!

all 3 of them so they go perfectly in chaos decks.

1 of each level plus BLS and a evenly rounded deck you got your self a bomb as heck deck.

spell negation and food for chaos.

yea some chaos deck may contain horus, but what use is horus if it cant help you get BLS, or any of the chaos monsters

not to mention making a Horus deck hybrid with chaos is a bit difficult not that it is impossible but a bit difficult.

The best possible part about the mid levels for both is that 1 can only pump when it attacks directly the other when it defeats a monster.

but still since horus 6 is limited in its power you can only do so much. while the other one can increase.

Mage power +axe+axe+axe you got a preaty beefed up monsters that cant get hurt by any of your opponents spell cards.

over all the Silent family over the Horus Family is preaty leveld out so that one isnt above the other. both really great sets.

You can defently expect to see some play from the silent family when all 3 of them are released.

Personally, I think SS Lv7 isn't very practical in a competative environment, and Lv3 MIGHT be if you're willing to part with valuable resources to defend him.

Regarding Lv7, I don't know about most of you guys, but I don't get THAT many direct attacks (give or receive), maybe 3 or 4 on a good/bad day. In that regard, Horus LV6 has an advantage that he only has to destroy a monster, which isn't too hard to imagine with a decent attack. But a direct attack with Lv5 might be a bit hard to pull off.

I think LV5 is ace though. A monster with a slightly less than average attack, but immune to opponent spell can be very useful. I will definetly get my hands on one.

well yea, there are alot of ups and downs, but i guess they just didnt want the silent swordsman to become overly powerfull or more powerfull than horus.

but the mid levels are great if you think about it.

1 can get equiped, even though you cannot pump it till it hits directly who will care?

you will just have a heavy hitter for a long time.

and keeping the mini level till the standby is very easy, ive pulled it off plenty of times. (test played it)

The Silent swordman's are great. Excellent art. Both Horus and Silent have their strength and weakness which is good because the last thing we want is another set of cards to add to the forbidden list.

The first step in the both evolution chains have a good effects. Horus LV 4 can't be controlled and Silent LV3 can't be touch by Opponents targeting spell cards. Horus can't even be creature swap'ed as long as its face up. But control switching are the only cards it'll protect itself. In this aspect, the Silent is better since it'll protect itself against various types of spells that target, not just control switching.

The next step in both evolutions are excellent. Horus is unaffected by all spells while Silent is unaffected by the opponent's spells. Here Silent gets the better deal since he can still be effect by your own spells like power- ups. The condition to get to the next level is easier for Horus but that's ok. There had to be some setback to Silent at this stage.

The final stages are... well, excellent for lack of a better word. Both are enhanced versions of Spell Cancellor. LV 7 Silent copies his effect exactly but has a much better ATK strength. Yeah harder to get on the field (like any LV 7 or LV 8) but once its there it ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon. Horus LV 8 is better with superior ATK and the ability to negate spells at will. You don't have to negate spells but you are given the choice. Which means only your opponent will be closed off from his spells. Silent stops all spells like Spell Canceller.

Both evolutions are great. Towards the end they both aim for the same thing: Spell control. So you can't go wrong with either one.
