Snatch Steal Question

I have a question or two about Snatch Steal? Its been ruled if I steal my oppoents monster with Snatch Steal and flip the monster face down with say Book of Moon, Snatch Steal will be destoyed and the face down monster will remain on my side of the field.
Q1) What will happen if I flip summon the monster?
Q2) Monster is flipped in battle and survives?

I would think the monster would return to its owners side of the field since I have nothing to control it.

Thanks

It stays on your side of the field in both cases.
How can the monster stay on my side of the field when there is nothing to influence it on the field? Snatch Steal is gone. What allows me to retain control of my oppoents monster?

Thanks

The way it was explained to me is that "Snatch Steal" has no provision for returning a face down monster. When it's flipped face-up, "Snatch Steal" is already gone, so it has no bearing on which side of the field the card ends up on, so it stays put.

I can understand that Snatch Steal has no provision of return. But, what I can not understand is how my opponent's monster can stay on my side of the field with out something influencing it. The monster knows I am not its owner...when sent to the graveyard it knows to go to its owners graveyard....I have nothing in play to control the monster or influence it....so I am not the owner or do I have an influence/control card in play but the monster remain on my side of the field. Doesn't sound right to me.

Thanks

Just one of those shakey rulings that I am not even sure is even attached to the card in the rulings section. I mean what happens when I use Dimensionhole on one of the monsters I Snatched Steal as well?

When a monster is flipped face-down, it decides that since it no longer has stats or anything, it also shouldn't worry about which side of the field it was originally on. Sure, it remembers who its original owner is, because that's an important thing (for when it goes to the Graveyard, for example), but when flipped face-down it stops caring about who was controlling it on the field first. It's on that particular side of the field now, so that's where it'll stay. It's not a proper explanation, but it works.

And...

"¢ [Re: Enemy Controller] If you take control of your opponent's monster with "Enemy Controller", and then the monster is removed from play with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" or "Dimensionhole", when it returns to play it comes to the side of the field of the player who used "Enemy Controller", but then immediately moves back to the original Controller.

When you take control of your opponent's monster with Change of Heart, why does it rturn to the owner of Change of Heart? Same for Enemy Controller and the like. They go back, because the effect tells it to. Creature Swap, on the other hand, has no condition for returning the monster, so it stays.

Continuous control shouldn't mislead you into beliving that Snatch Steal is magnet holding the monster down to your side of the field until it finally lets go. It's more akin to a pass or Special Pemission given by the card effect for the face-up to exist on your side of the field (since this couldn't happen otherwise) Since it is an Equip Card and continuous, your not turning off the Equip Card by flipping it face-down, your ignoring it completely. Your svering ties to the effect, rather turning the effect off. The permission that what was holding tis no loinger a concern and is forgotten, and the monster remains where it is.

Even more interesting is that it does not even say in the rulings for Snatch Steal when it comes to Dimensionhole, yet they go ahead and mention Interdimensional Matter Transporter. But as Jedi said, the card says it returns, while Snatch Steal is how he explained it. So does that mean it will stay on my field when it returns during my Standby Phase?

When Dimensionhole resolves the monster will return to your side of the field and then immediately return to the original owner.

Does it in Snatch Steal's case? Since it does not state so in the rulings, it leaves it up for debte.

[Re: Different Dimension Gate] When your opponent's monster on your side of the field that you control with "Change of Heart" or "Snatch Steal" is removed with "Different Dimension Gate", it returns to your side of the field when "Different Dimension Gate" is destroyed, and then immediately returns to your opponent's side of the field.

This is not truly open for debate. We have plenty of rulings which show how this mechanic works.

I agree the ruling is shakey....sorta like a 7.9 earth quake shakey. Of the over 80 equip spell cards out there this is the only one I know of that continues to influence a monster when the equip card is no longer on the field. Can you imagian Axe of Despair (another equip card) working like the rulings say Snatch Steal does? These rulings make Snatch Steal the card of almost never-ending influence! To me, either the rulings need to change and bring this equip card inline with other equips or the card type should be changed to continues spell card and work more like the trap card Nightmare Wheel?
