Spirit's Invitation LOD-EN095

Spirit's Invitation
Continuous Trap

Each time your Spirit monster returns to your hand, select 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field and return it to its owner's hand. Pay 500 Life Points during each of your Standby Phases. If you do not, this card is destroyed.

An interesting support card for your Spirit monsters. The essence of it has you paying 500 Life Points in exchange to likewise return an opponent's monster to his hand. You should at least be able to get the effect off once for free and since the payment is optional you can then sac the card. It's a nice way to offset the loss of field control. Again, good primarily in Spirit Themed decks.

yeah, this card and spiritual energy settle machine are the only real spirit support directly have spell and trap wise. (remains of yata garasu, but thats not in english yet)

what you could do to compensate, and actually gain from this card, is combo it with spring of rebirth. that way, you would gain a total of 500 LP each turn. (500 x2 for your monster and your opponents going to the hand - 500 for payment = 500 gain) or you can use life absorbing machine, but um...no.

So far, we have seen that Spring of Rebirth, Book of Moon, Spiritual Energy Settle Machine, and this card support spirits spell and trap wise.

for a while i thought that spirits werent classified as effect monsters because it didnt say so on the card, but they are (sadly). the reason that that would matter is because skill drain and curse of anubis... yeah.

this card and spiritual energy settle machine are the only real spirit support [...] spell and trap wise
And these two complement each other quite nicely:

When playing with one of the two two-tribute spirits, you'll want them to stay on the field. Then Spiritual Enegy Settle Machine comes to play.

When playing with no-tribute spirits, you'll rather want them to go back to your hand, Otohime in f/u attack, imagine that!?
Spirit's Invitation then makes sure your enemy doesn't get some field advantage monster-wise.

As mentioned above, you need to do something about the LP loss. Even 500 sum up, in 16 turns to 8000. Although a good player with a strong spirit deck and Spirit's Invitation and some spell-protective traps on the field won't need that long to win a duel. Even without Yata, for those who think about that crow all day long.

At last, even the artwork is great. It features the spirit-typical broken window. And a mighty, superior spirit dragging a helpless frightened weak monster into the "Spitit Zone"(tm) (=hand). Especially nice as it seems to be some Zombie-type monster which tend to swarm the field nowadays; this card will shine there.
Oh, and "Invitation" in the name is absolutely EVIL concerning this artwork.
