Standby to Main Phase 1 Question..

Ok, opponent has Ceasefire and I have a face down Magician of Faith. I draw a card, then go to flip MoF up, and my opponent activates Ceasefire.

The question is, who gets to do what first. What if says Ceasefire before I get a chance to do anything after drawing. I'm sure there is a rule on who can do what first? Maybe he activates Ceasefire during my standby phase??

This comes up quite often on different things... Like I played my wife, and she played RoD, as soon as she did it, I activated Barrel Behind the Door, then she followed it with her Barrel behind the door. She would have activated hers first if I wouldn't have spoke too soon, but how does this work??

Thanks!

I guess the bad part is just having to say "I now enter my main phase". Because if you do not say it everytime, it kind of tips your hand as to what you are going to do.

I have got in to the habbit of saying what phase I am going into. Main phase 1,2, battle, and end. This bugs some people but I use it to my advantage.

If I say I am entering main phase one and they say wait then all is well. If I say it and they say nothing for 2-3 seconds then I proceed on. Gives them plenty of time to activate a card. This helps when dueling people who like to sneek things in on you that they couldn't activate otherwise.

Habit? While I agree it's a good one it's also the rules. You cannot enter/leave a phase until both players agree to leave/enter that phase. At each phase the turn player has priority. If you don't do anything, then you've passed to your opponent who may now activate any appropriate effect. This includes activating Ceasefire at your opponents Draw, Standby, Battle or End Phase.
