You MUST watch these if you've had any small amount of love for Star Trek, and especially if you loved the original Trek.

The first episode is available at Google Video as well. I download the full DIVX version from the mirror sites they have listed. If you can learn to accept interpretations of Spock, Bones and McCoy from different actors, then you can get passed most of these episodes.

"What Dreams May Come" is the first Webisode. You can tell that they put their heart and soul into making this episode, because the Special Effects are outstanding.

But then I saw Webisode 2 the other day, "In Harm's Way". Holy Crap! I can't believe they made this for no profit. This is better then some movies I've seen. And far better then the first Webisode. This is a Star Trek fan's dream come true to be able to film stuff like this. I'm guessing someone saw the initial Pilot Episode and donated money for the second. Because the second blew me away.

This fan made site has been around for a while now. Webisode 3, "To Serve All My Days", is coming out in September. It's made such an enormous impact oin the Star Trek community that actual Star Trek actors are getting ready to make appearances in it. Walter Koenig (AKA Pavel Chekhov) will reprise his role as Chekhov for an episode where the "aging virus" reactivates in Chekhov's blood stream, and he begins rapidly aging again. Koening will play his aging counter part.

George Takei will be in the following episode playing Captain Sulu again. There's a great deal of time travel and flash fowards to the future in these episodes, so having "Captain Sulu" in it will not be a stretch.

Be sure to check out the vignette "Center Seat", as it has a nice Sulu short Story.

If you can download the DIVX versions of these Episodes, I highly recommend it. The Special Effects in these episodes are outstanding and the acting and makeup only improves from Episode 1 to Episode 2. Yes, they included the classic musical score from the original series. This stuff almost makes me shed a tear. (What? You thought I was only into Star Wars? Of course not. :nod_no I'm into everything. :nod_yes )

Two of those are the same person. I assume you meant to include Kirk in there instead of the repetition.

I watched the pilot episode, "Come What May" (Digital called it "What Dreams May Come", for some reason), and I have to say it looks interesting.

I was going to put a summary of my thoughts, but I figured others might not appreciate that. So "interesting" is pretty much all I can say.

Definitely give "In Harm's Way" a view. It's a step up in quality. Better Spock make-up. Better directing. Less Kirk hair.

I've just downloaded it. I'll watch it tomorrow. I'm getting the smaller versions, partly because it's quicker, and partly because my Broadband server has a 15GB monthly cap.

Funny you should mention "Star Trek". Last night, I found myself half watching something on TV, and then I saw a commercial for Star Wars before the next program started, and it ended up being "The Search for Spock".

I like Star Trek (the original ones with Kirk and the crew, as well as the Movies including them), and was semi interested in the Spin-Offs, but I really didnt have any intention of watching The Search for Spock, and I found myself glued to watching it anyway, from start to finish!!! lol

Good stuff!! Maybe just a little bit too much of a good thing though with the Spin-Offs....

Just avoid Star Trek V at all costs. Anything else Trek is fine by me.

I saw those new voyages episodes a while back, before the one with Walter Koenig was finished. Cheesy, but still good. I watched them on my laptop during a power failure :D

The fact that D.C. Fontana is involved is a really really cool thing. Check out which TOS episodes she was a writer on ... all very very very good episodes.

Well, I stumbled across this today in a link from the DAZ forums. I thought it would be a so-so project, being that it's essentially one guy doing this on his computer. Turned you to be one deeply moving, well put together piece of Fan Fiction. I suspect this guy has a future in animation, if he isn't already working in the industry.

AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH STAR TREK V?!!?!! They were all good.

LOL. You're right ... just because I didn't like it doesn't mean everyone would. Although, I really don't know anyone (until just now!) that actually liked that movie.

Row, row, row your boat, gently down the stream ...

Do they plan on making more, like a total series?
Aurora or New Voyages. Yes to both. At least, in Aurora's case, it is a planned mini-series or 4 part movie. New Voyages could conceivably go on indefinitely

AND WHAT'S WRONG WITH STAR TREK V?!!?!! They were all good.
Star Trek V had a few problems. It was under-budgeted, so some story elements noticeably fizzled. Sybock's character was originally written for Sean Connery, it never quite fit the other guy. The story was not as epic as it predecessors, and when doing sequels, you should really top yourself. The Special Effects were noticeably low key. Al in all, it wasn't up to par with the standard they had already set with the last 3 especially. IV was a phenomenal hit and wrapped up the storyline that began in II. V should have begun a new chapter, but all it really was, was a slightly more expensive episode of the original series. Basically, it could have been a LOT better.

Not as epic? The search for God and Eden? Okay, the ending was a bit dodgy (random energy being killed by a disruptor blast and not a photon torpedo), but the premise was a good one.

Epic in theme, but not epic in execution. The resolution, the ultimate manifestation of the storyline meant more to the characters then it did to the audience. It's sort of like two disaster movies, where one destroys Chicago and the other takes place in a tunnel. While smaller in the scope, the Chicago one can have less of impact on the audience because the story doesn't grab them. It's not about anything they care about. Whereas the movie about the disaster in a tunnel keeps the audience on the edge of their seat throughout. Bigger stakes in one, but more epic execution in the smaller stake one.

The problem with V was that it didn't grasp on the thematic that Star Trek fans would care deeply about, in context. The stakes were only high for Sybok, and his acolytes, but not for the audience. Don't get me wrong, I've only seen the movie 9 times, (yikes) and it's got some relevant history and some genuine humor, ("I know this ship like the back of me' hand") but it lacked that quality that made II and IV 'feel" more epic then V.

Come to think of it, IV could be considered a bit more epic even in context. Restoring the timeline and all.

Well, they still haven't made "To Serve All My Days" available yet, but looks like they've re-numbered the episodes. "In Harm's Way", which was awesome, by the way, is now episode 1, and I guess they considered the first one they actual filmed the pilot episode. "To Serve All My days" with Walter Koenig, is episode 2 and will precede episode 3, "World Enough and Time" starring George Takei. They are already in pre-production for episodes 4 and 5.

At least, they cleaned up the sea little. It easier to get to a download now:

"To Serve All My Days" is finally out. I can't seem to figure out this Bit Torrent thingy to get it to download properly. Guess I'll just go the old fashioned way.

Got an email on some New Voyages news thought you might like to see.

Best known for his role as Klingon warrior, General, and ultimately Chancellor Martok on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, veteran Trek actor John (J.G.) Hertzler returns to fill the shoes of the ever-lovable charlatan and rogue, Harcourt Fenton Mudd. Hertzler will also direct the episode, currently titled, "The Sky Above, The Mudd Below." Harry Mudd comes across loud and clear, it will be a hoot to embody the ol' privateer"¦ Harry Mudd is a cross between a giant Ferengi and a gypsy king," said Hertzler after reading the script penned by Trek author, Howard Weinstein. Hertzler is known for his versatility as an actor, playing a number of roles on Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise, as well as many other stage and screen roles. "J.G. has a great sense of humor and I know he will make a great Harry Mudd," remarked Producer James Cawley. "It takes a special actor to recreate the role of one of the greatest thorns in Captain Kirk's side." Pre-production work continues on the project, which has not yet been assigned a shoot date. "There are a few key roles and details we still have to nail down before we establish a firm shooting schedule," said Cawley.
